Ignorance to the real world. College professors live in a world of ideology that will never exist, actors live in a constant fantasy world, and the media are made up of men who have their own agenda. ALL have one thing in common.... they all believe their own BS and think the world revolves around them

"Only lazy blue losers become College Professors. All the smart people trade on Wall Street."
You are so clueless. At one time I had a choice to make in my career and that was to go into academia or go into the corporate world. I looked at the professors and how hard they worked. For most of them putting in 60 hours a week was an easy week. They were constantly working, writing grant proposals, writing papers, and doing load of other activities assigned to them by the university besides teaching. Most undergrads have no idea how many other things professors do other than teach. I did not want to live that life, I wanted to spend time with my kids, so I went into industry.
Smart people do not go to Wall Street. Any chimp can get an MBA. Sure there are some smart people on wall street, but the truly driven and brilliant people go into academia. If not for the researchers in academia being really smart people, you would not have the computer you are using. You have no idea how much industry depends on the basic research done at universities.

Because they are the most open-minded individuals you will ever encounter. Able to see and accept other people's point of views as a learning experience. I'm guessing your not educated enough to be a Professor or not talented enough to be in Entertainment and not good writer to get a job in Media?
Don't worry....the world needs closed minded people also so hang in there...I appreciate you.

Because, ultimately, those that CRAVE POWER really only need to sit on their porches with a beer and a HUGE gun. Or tank. Or missile. Or oil well. Or food supply. Or cash.
They do NOT need to create, express, or define anything other than the desire to control -- and by doing so -- create MORE POWER.
So -- they are NOT entertainers, creators, deep thinkers, real spiritualists, cooperators, workers for the good of all, or anything of substance other than the ability to stockpile MORE STUFF. In that regard, they are very talented. But we have all seen just how entertaining wars are on TV.
Who's Britney married to now? I'll have to check on that after I finish watching this program on world starvation...

As for Media that is changing fast. The Catholic Church is secretly buying media sources.

Could it be because they are intelligent? Could it be because they form their opinions using the scientific method of collecting data and basing conclusions on facts, rather than just believing anything Rush Limbaugh says?
A friend who teaches at a Canadian university tells me they are being inundated with employment applications from American university professors who have had enough of the anti intellectual climate here. So you guys are driving the smartest people in the country out. That worked so well for Hitler, didn't it. Fine. A country thats stupid enough to throw out its intelligent people deserves exactly what it gets.

I have a theory. It has to do with moral relativism. They have money and/or power and/or access in which they can do things that might be considered amoral. Because of this, they convince themselves and want to convince others, that nothing is really "wrong". Things are just "wrong to you". So, if a professor sleeps with a student, that is okay, because there is no right or wrong.
They convince themselves, and want us to share the view, that morality is in the eye of the beholder. Given this line of thinking, all bets are off on behavior. You can justify anything.

I don't know why. I have often wondered the same thing.
hichefheidi I don't think he is trying to say that he doesn't like these things but wonders why they are dominated by ultra-left wing nut cases like Barbara Streisand who have views that do not parallel the rest of the county's views

So, you hate teachers, entertainment, and the news? Get rid of those things in your life. That includes your computer. You guys are always so gung-ho to give up the things that make this country great. SO, give them up.

I don't think they can help it. Half of the brain is responsible for logic and reasoning, and half for creativity and arts. Everybody favors one side or the other. I think liberals favor the side of the brain that is responsible for arts and creativity. It does not mean they are incapable of logic and reason, it just means that they are more likely to look for creative and imaginitive solutions instead of logical solutions.
