Back when I was about 9 (in my late 20's now) I saw a made for t.v. horror movie called "Don't be Afraid of the Dark". It was an old re-run originally made in the 70's. It really messed me up!!! I was scared of the dark for like 5 years after that! It had some pretty good actors in it (for the time). It was about a young couple who inherited a house, possessed by little demon-like-knomes who came out of a bricked up fireplace. They "get" the main actor at the end. It had a good plot and a devastating ending. Does anyone else out there remember that move and, if so. Can you tell me what you thought about it? Sorry this is so long.

Oh yes, starred Kim Darby as the young woman taken by the creatures. This movie was one of a bunch of "movies of the week" which orignally aired in the 70s.

Do you also remember, "When Michael Calls"? About a woman whose nephew was killed but someone who sounds just like him keeps calling her to be picked up, why is she so late? Creepy flick.
There was another one about a family moving into a ranch-style place which apparently houses a demon. I cant remember the name of it now, but they shot a commerical at the place and when they previewed the footage of the front of the house, you could see giant eyes in the front windows. One guy begins to suspect whats going on, but as he's driving home late at night, his windshield begins to crack and becomes so cracked up he cant see out of it anymore and crashes. Another weird one.

You COULD buy this movie on VHS at one time. Whether it will be released on DVD is anyone's guess.

Is this it...

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (1973) (TV)

A neurotic housewife named Sally and her business exec husband move into Sally's family house, a spooky two story Victorian mansion. When Sally starts the redecorating along with her pompous decorator she comes across a locked room in the house. After arguing with the handyman who insists she should leave the room locked, she finally gets the key. But once she opens her father's old study and has the bricks from the fireplace removed, strange things begin to happen. Sally begins to see small creatures everywhere, but no one will believe her. Her husband dismisses her as neurotic and her friend thinks Sally may be loosing her mind. But things take a deadly serious turn when the decorator trips at the top of the stairs and falls to his death. Sally sees a rope lying across the place where he tripped, but when she picks it up to take it, a horrifying little creature pulls it from her grasp. Is she crazy? Or has Sally released demons in the house, demons her father summoned?

I did watch it. In fact I saw it when it first aired. It was the one Of the ABC Movie of the week. I liked it but never found it to be scary since I was about 10 or 11 when it was first shown.

LOL. I saw that when I was a kid. It's scared the heck out of me too. I remember always being afraid that they were in our fireplace or behind my walls at night.
