power walking (lots of walking clubs meet at local malls), people watching, playgroups (some malls now have indoor play areas where people can take their toddlers/preschoolers to play)

People like myself who have skin conditions and have to avoid the sun go their to go their walking instead. Likewise, when the whether is horrible in the winter, the mall is better than walking in the rain.
Also, I lot of people I know just go to the mall to eat.
And, people bring busload of handicap people to the mall to eat and wheal them around. I find this really annoy and lazy on their part, because they don't take care of their clients and they shiek in loud voices and scare the heck out of the children. It would be better if they took them to the park once in a while too.
Also, people use the mall as their office to interview people and meet clients in the food court. This is also very annoying.

Seniors use them for exercise, there are walking clubs, some malls offer free health screenings, to hand out with friends, to see movies, to eat at the restaurants.
