It's already been done, it's not a long term fix, but is used routinely in heart surgeries and in dialysis situations as well. It is an external filtering device. If you mean an internal implant, that's a very long way off.

The technology has not been perfected. From what I understand to clone a liver would require to clone a liver from someone who does not have an predispositions for liver disease. If a physician were to clone a liver with the predispositions, then whomever the liver is transplanted to would inherit those problems.
