I cruise all of the time and never feel much motion, not even as much as there is on an airplane or car.
Some people worry about getting sea sick, but the ships being used these days have automated stabilizers which minimize the rocking. The larger ships cut through the water so easy that you don’t even feel like you are moving. The smaller ships are more suseptible to high seas. When there is bad weather the cruise lines will steer around and away from it, sometimes changing the order of port stops. Also, the ships generally move overnight and dock in the mornings so you don’t feel much movement. Consequently, your chances of getting sea sick are minimal. There is generally less motion than on an airplane. If you do get sick, all ships have a doctor and they will dispense sea sick medicines. If you are prone to motion sickness, just get pills or a patch from your own doctor before you go, or go to a boating store and get a sea sickness bracelet.

Mostly you don't, however if the seas are very rough nothing can stop them from making the boat rock. When I went I felt nothing, but I understand that the week after I docked another ship on the same cruise line strapped people in their beds at night to prevent them from falling out and one man fell and broke his hip. The dining rooms were pretty scarce because too many people were ill from the rocking. (Like anything else it is sort of 'takes your chances.') I would offer one piece of advice though. My cruise was a 7 day cruise and we docked 3 times. It takes a big chunk out of your day, you are usually only put in places where there is nothing to do but shop and eat and the poverty level is such that people come selling you chiclets and stuff you don't want but they make you feel guilty so you buy, but you cannot buy from everyone so you still feel guilty and then some thug takes the money away from the street vendor anyway....so my advice stay on the ship and mail your favorite charity a check instead. The activities on the cruise are better (and you already paid for them) and if you MUST shop or die, ask the people working on the ship which port would they choose for best prices.
Last piece of advice. Take sea sickness medicine and any other type of medicines that you can think of with you, perhaps a bottle of alcohol with you if you drink, because these commodities are very expensive on board.

GONE ON 4, 7,10 & 12 DAY CRUISES ON DIFFERENT SHIPS AND SIZES. NO, YOU CANT FEEL WAVES UNLESS GET OUT OF THE SHIP AND TOUCH THE WATER. SERIOUSLY , YOU NORMALLY DONT FEEL MUCH MOTION UNLESS THE SHIP GETS INTO EXTREMELY ROUGH WATEROR WEATHER. EVEN THEN YOU ONLY MIGHT FEEL THE SHIP ROLL SLIGHTLY. SHIPS USE STABILIZERS TO KEEP THEM FROM ROLLING.SHIPS ARE LIKE CARS, THE BIGGER THE SHIP THE SMOOTHER THE RIDE. SMALLER SHIPS UNDER 1000 FEET TEND TO ROLL SLIGHTLY MORE THAN SHIPS OVER 1000 FEET. THE REASON IS THEIR WEIGHT IN GROSS TONNAGE IS HIGHER IN 1000+ FOOT SHIPS THEN SHIPS IN LESSER LENGTHS AND WEIGHT. ALSO TOO. VERY LARGE SHIPS HAVE LARGER WIDTHS WHICH HELPS THEM TO BE MORE STABLE. DONT WORRY, SHIPS CAPTAINS TODAY MAKE A GREAT DEAL OF PROVIDING YOU WITH THE SMOOTHEST RIDE POSSIBLE JUST LIKE AIRLINE PILOTS. GO ON A CRUISE AND ENJOY! UNLESS I AM WRONG, YOU WILL WANT TO GO AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN ITS THAT ADDICTIVE

From my experience you don't feel the waves per say, but you do feel some motion. Try to stay in a lower cabin on the ship where there is less motion.

Modern ships have stabilizers, to keep the ship steady.
But if the ship hits a storm, you better take medication

i was on Marco Polo's boat as we sailed the spice route - but that was a different time and i remember little.
more recently my father took a boat from Italy to Canada about 55 years ago - the story goes that he was so sick he turned yellow!
but good luck with your trip and your sea legs!
