I am about to enter my senior year. I still haven't taken my act's or any of that. I will be 18 in 4 months. I am freaking out about graduation and the "real world". Am I over-reacting? Is it really that scary?

Well I just finished my senior year and I didnt take my SATs till December (which is NOT good). I'm lucky that I got a good score on my first shot, cause if I had done bad I wouldve been screwed for college admission. Deadlines are usually in March/April, and if I had failed my SATs I wouldve had to wait till February/March to retake them. So what I'm saying is take all those tests AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. If you keep putting it off it WILL come back to bite you.

Also, graduation and heading off into "the real world" isnt as scary as everyone makes it out to be. I'm starting my college classes in a couple weeks and its really not that bad. In a way its pretty exciting, having the chance to REALLY feel independent and mature. Good luck with everything =)

Try Junior College or Community College (however they call where you are). Half the people I know did not take the SAT or the ACT. They took the test require by the community college to get in, they were close to home, and it really is like the 13th grade. I think it provides a smooth transition to college life, rather than moving away right after graduation. Its cheaper sometimes, too.

Also, in Florida at least, you are guaranteed admission to four-year colleges if you transfer from an in-state community college. There are scholarships available for transfer students, too.

But it is your decision and you are still young. Take it easy.

no it is very normal to get nervous about this situation, however look at it on the bright side and understand that you are growing up and becoming mature, and the more you accomplish in your life the better you will feel about yourself, and as for me as a teen i tried to do as much as i could to keep all my elders looking up to me as well as those of the younger age... stay focused and GOOD LUCK!

Yes -- you are overreacting.

High school was the worst time of my life, and college was the best time of my life. The good times are ahead of you.

You should be looking forward to the future, and not be afraid of it.
