This list should help, just select your state & go from there. Most of the databases have what they call a 'neighborhood' search which allows you to put in your address and select a specific mile radius to include.

And yes, as far as I know they're all free. The ones that charge are NOT government sponsored sites.

There are essentially sites for each state. Do an internet search for "Megan's Law" or "Sex Offenders", and include your state in the search string.

I have checked a few (my state as well as those of friends & family), and none of them have cost me anything.

Usually your state police, and sometimes they are carried alsewhere.

You local police have to tell you of sex offenders in your area, so go down to your police station!

Go to the Department of Corrections website for your state. There should be a link to it. That's where I found the registry.

Absolutely. If you want to check for yours, look under (your state) sex offenders. You should get a hit on a state government site. You can look it up by zip code, county, name.
