I will agree and say it's not the cars it's the oil. And it's not really the oil because we can power our vehicles on other sources of energy but the oil industry has to tight a grip on this so called "DEMOCRACY " of ours for anything to be passed to relieve us of our dangerous dependence on oil. Come on Brazil has a good program for alternative energy, but we don't. Anyway our society couldn't function without automobiles. Cars aren't going anywhere so we need to tell those worthless politicians to start finding a better way to power our cars and stop trying to take over the world's oil supply by force.

You REALLY should get out more....... we had wars LONG before the internal combustion engine.... and in case you'd forgotten, most of the current wars going on in the middle east are down to trying to keep at bay a bunch of loonatics who like to think they're muslims but kinda got the wrong end of the stick about what it's all about... 9/11 ring any bells?

Because you are narrow and simplistic.

Even without cars, the industrial uses of petroleum would still call for cheap supply of oil for chemicals and building materials (think plastics). There would still be homes and factories to heat ("heating oil") when it is cold, scads of emergency, remote, and standby generators will still need deisel for fuel.

People use things like oil for excuses to fight their neighbors. If it weren't oil, it would be land, or language, or even water. Most importantly, people who insist upon insisting that their way of living and thinking has to be right and their neighbors wrong, dead-wrong, will still result in fighting and wars whether cars were a figment of our imagination or oil as plentiful as sand.

It is not the cars, it's the oil that is used to make the gasoline that fuels them.
We need more E85 fuel and bio diesel
