getting low signal on d-link usb wireless?

the router is 2 rooms away in another office and i have a brick house

You can buy the Linksys router with speedbooster that might increase your signal, and or you could also buy the Wireless-G Range Expander which I would try first.

Your signal strength is poor due to the router's range (802.11b is about 30m) or is obstructed by the density of the materials of your house. Get a repeater (signal booster)

brick doesn't transmit that well-- seems normal to me. Look at the places you might position the router in your house for best coverage.
