sadly i know a lot of homophobic people.Im straight myself but think people should be left to do what they want, its not like its a choice and as long as no-ones getting hurt i dont see what the big deal is(things must be hard enough as it is with out the for lack of a better word discrimination). You know its funny i ended up in this section and was mortified by some of the questions asked by straight people in their ignorance and narrow mindedness. The questions/answers seem a lot more mature & intelligent, oh dear babbling again hope i answered the question

It seems in bigger and more modern environments discrimination is less. But it still can be felt in many places, specially when people are like protected from the existence of homosexuality. (But gay people are not from the opposite.)

The simple fact that we exist is enough for bigotry, and they don't understand how negatively they hurt other human beings.

There seems also to be a parallelism between individualism and a rise in openness to what's alternative. When people are stereotypes instead of formed individuals, they like to point out and humiliate whoever is different from them.
I've read that in Spain yesterday, a guy was sent to hospital unconscious for kissing his boyfriend in the swimming pool.

I just wonder, in a world full of violence, how many gay people have actually ever been aggressive against another person.

Some people will never make the effort to understand how it feels to fear showing affection. they just consider it granted.

First, slavery. Then, white superiority. Followed by men uncontested status over women. Now, it's gay people.

We will win this fight also. It's not only for us, it's also for the future. So that people can be happy the way they are, and never again cry or want to commit suicide.

In all my short life yet, i have never insulted anyone. But Ive been insulted a lot.

Well in today's world things are harder and yet better. It seems that as a gay person I run into a lot of homophobia. But that's just people. There are some benefits to being gay, like your hardly ever pressured to have sex. But the opposite of that is coming out. So maybe they balance out. I always dislike hearing the jokes but I would rather hear them then be hated. Yeah I know a little hypocritical.

The one thing I don't get is that why glbt's are such a big surprise to people. I'm talking about the Ying Yang theory. For every one thing there is a or more opposite(s). I don't know. Just live life to the best of you ability.

Well, my opinon of homosexuality is bound to be good...I is one! lol. As a card carrying member of the lgbt community, I have run into more than my fair share of homophobes. And yes, it's unfair. And yes, discrimination of any type is wrong. But it's not really going to stop. Why? Because people hate and fear what they don't understand. And lots of folks just DON'T want to understand that homosexual people are....people. No different (and certainly no better or worse) than straight folks. It all comes down to that willful ignorance that I have a real problem with.

I am a gay man living in the midwest. I recently left Topeka Ks. Home of West boro Baptist Church and those people that support Fred Phelps. his si one of the worst things to ever see, a man who claims to be religous picketting a gay mans funeral.

When I travel to the more remote parts of the midwest I am very conscience of where I am and what might not be acceptable behavior.

When I go to the larger cities like OKC, KC, it is clear it is more widely accepted. I am proud to be a gay man. I live my life with hight morals and ethics than many I know. Yet I am bashed and hated because I love another man.

In time and with patience the gay community continues to make progress in achieving equality. Someday in the not so distant future we will have it. Right will always win out over bad. Hatered, biogtry and ingnorance will lose and love will win.

I think it's becoming more mainstream and I think it's great! I do take offense to gay jokes, but part of the reason I overhear them is because I'm very straight-acting.

the only thing that's wrong with homosexuality is the negativity from closed minded people.
