And also...what household can I use to lighten them?

actually, with all those empty hair folicles, I wouldn't put anything on them, just use ice. As for lightening, once the discomfort passes, I would use lemon juice. It is bacteriostatic, won't clog up pores and is a natural lightener.

If they are not bleeding, then aloe lotion should help. Try it for about a day. Beyond that, air should help the healing and you should feel more comfortable.

If the skin is really red and raw, apply some first aid spray, like Bactine to prevent infection and promote healing. Once the skin has calmed down, THEN you can start using your usual deoderant. If the healing is slow, air will help, and, if you have to apply deoderant for a while, dust with talcum or baby powder and wear long sleeves.

Ice (alternate for 15-20 min on and then off or you will further irritate your skin!), aloe and a painkiller like advil or tylenol-- next time, take the painkiller BEFORE hair removal. The things we women suffer for "beauty". Also, do NOT expose them to sun for 24-48 hours and no deodorant/antiperspirant for 24 hours.

Have you tried using aloe vera to help soothe them? Or perphaps a nonperfumed lotion.

I can't think of anything to lighten them.
