Well depending on your age... Start out with Express for men and to Bananna Republic, Look at their ads and how the guys are dressed... Have a sales person help you out everytime you walk in a store or at least get an opinion.
Go to http://www.ftv.com They always show great selections for men and women.. Also, runway shows they will help you get an idea of what's new and what's out there.... Also, it will help you make a decision on what type of fashion or styles you are into!
A lot of stores have a great return policy as long as you keep you tags attached and have your receipt... Like Express and Banana republic...Try Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack, their clothes are very elegant. So you can always return what you don't like...

and it can take time 2 find your fashion sense so it just takes time
wen u purchase a fashion mag then just say that your getting this 4 your sister or girlfriend

Get married. You'll never have to decide what to wear again. (Women have this thing about picking out mens clothes).
On a more serious note. Try watching TLC's What Not To Wear when they have men on there. I know they usually makeover women but about 1 in 10 they make over a man.

Start reading GQ, Maxim, etc. Watch fashion t.v. shows "What Not To Wear". Take notice of what other guys are wearing and make a note of any particular "look" or style that you like.

Watch "Queer Eye for a Straight Guy." Thay make anyone look good and give a lot of pointers.

develope a relationship w/ a salesperson at your local department store. most places would be more than happy to help guide you to clothes that fit your lifestyle and personality.
