Are you talking about Pride and Prejudice? Are you sure you're talking of Mr. Collin's letter? After Lydia ran away, it is Mr. Gardiner, Lizzie's uncle that sends the Bennets a letter of Lydia. He says he will try to find her and 'restore' there family...or something like that.

I'm not sure what-- Uh, if you're talking about the movie, all it said was that Lydia ran off with Mr. Wickham without saying a word to her parents or family. Once again, I'm not sure, but I love that book and the movie!
