I have to memorize (or at least know) the multiplication tables from 1-20, meaning 1x1...........1x20.........20x1........20x20

Are there any tricks to getting this accomplished quickly? Thanks

Set the task to a favorite melody -- any one that you really like, and remember easily. . .
Read the number answers with each note . . . 'till they 'stick' in your memory. You should never forget them, this way.
I have a learning disability and this 'trick' never failed for me.
Good luck to you . . .

1* anything will be the same number 1*8 = 8
2* anything will be a double 2*6 = 12
5* anything will always end in a 5 if it's odd and 0 if it's even
5*3 = 15 5*8 = 40
9 you can count on your fingers like 9*2 you can count on both your hands count to 2 and then you should have your thumb on your left hand indicating a 1 and then a finger down and then a remaining 8 (including your right hand) making the total 18.
10 * anything will just have a 0 added to it 10*18 = 180
11* anything just doubles the number 11*5= 55

that's all the hints I know

Multiplication is all about memory. 1 through 10 is easy. 11 through 20 are a little more challenging because the numbers are larger. You should already know 1, 5, & 10.

My suggestion would be to learn one set every day. Repeat it over and over for the entire day. The next day, learn and repeat the second set. Remember to continue to repeat the previous one you learned. Don't do it all at the same time, because it's too overwhelming. Just quiz yourself repeatedly and use flash cards to make it easier. Before you know it, you'll know all the answers by just looking at the two numbers you're multiplying.

Good luck.

hmmm, I would say know the squares, but that's just like saying know the tables. Other than the squares, I don't know very many of those past 10x10. Squares are 10x10 = 100 11x11= 121 12x12 = 144 13x13 = 169 14x14 = 195 15x15 = 225 16x16=256
17x17=289 18x18=324 19x19=361 20x20=400...basically, I think it is easier just to do the multiplication in your head than to memorize the table.

The 1, 5 and 10 tables are easy. 20's are double the tens. All the rest are a matter of practice. Practice using a beat from a song you like, it works.

Just practice, practice and practice and eventually you will have them memorized. This is perfectly normal... unless you are 21 or older and still stuck in the second grade.
