I would say that applies to everyone but those of pure Indian heritage. They were here first. I know it makes no sense does it. America was built for immigrants who wanted a better life and now we shut out the Mexicans who want exactly the same thing. I believe that's called "calling the kettle black".

In actually the only people officially native to this land are the native americans or indians, and even then if you really think about it, they're not native to this land either...they came here for the same reason all men came to this land, in search of freedom, a new life, and exploration. That's how continents and countries are truly created if you really think about it; it took somebody to discover the land for it to be considered as theirs. So yes, although I don't approve of our forefathers methods of pushing out the indians and native americans out of their land, that's essentially how our country was formed, on the invasion of somebody else's property...

Well, yes. My ancestors are Native American, and european from times of vikings, then from the first coming of immigrants. The Irish got along real good with the Cherokee before the killers came. For GREED, for LAND, and for gold. Im a daughter of the revolution, a direct descendant of Rbt E Lee, and also a relative on the Declaration of Independence, and a relative in every war. My family tree is a lesson in US history. I pay taxes. I guess that qualifies me.

I didn't invade anywhere...I was born in the US, but I think for the most part immigrants have given more than they have taken...and for the most part the greatest people in this country have either been immigrants or have immigrant ancestors...but there are social/financial issues that need to be addressed by the federal govt as opposed to state govts having to deal with the issues alone...

That is what they are saying, but the constitution put a limit on those coming in, and it is usually allocated by country, by year, for those legal! We only have so much space, and too many unemployed as it it.

And I don't condone how we got a lot of this land! It should have been illegal!

Well, I totally agree that we shouldn't have pushed the natives out of their area, but on another point, technically none of us are even from this land. Reaserchers believe that the first humans originated in Africa, so none of us are native.

Yes. I was born in this land, so I am native to THIS land. My ancestors? No. But me? Yes. I get to claim being native to the land I was born in. Now am I "NATIVE AMERICAN"? As in, First Nation...American Indian?....No. Not unless you count the little known Jewish American Indian tribe, the Schmohawks. ;-)

No, even what we consider to be Native Americans didn't originally live here.
