Some of your letter keys should have numbers on them (probably blue numbers). Hold Function and hit NumLock(which should be in blue also) then use those letter keys with the numbers on them.

In most laptops some alphabets also function as numbers (keypad style) - you need to turn on Number Lock (Num Lock) - but using it can be slightly confusing initially. All the best.
(You can also use the regular 1,2,3,4 keys ?)

To use the numpad, press and hold the FN key, and then press the keys with no's on them or if you using dell you migh have a Num Lk key which would enable the keypad.
So would largely depend on make/model on your laptop.

there's usually a "fn" key you can hold down or lock and use the keys on the right side that have the number pad printed in small font on the keys..
