Read his web site- The Nader Page. The man is one of the only folks out there making sense on a number of issues. The only man sticking up for the lower and middle classes. His action in the past has done much for consumers. His message was extremely powerful in his past campaigns. Yet liberals voted for men that had a weak message or no message at all. The word I am looking for here is courage. Have the courage to vote for the man that actually looks out for your interests. Not a corporate drone. This is why conservatives mock liberals. Because they don't have the intestinal fortitude to stand up and fight. I can't stand to see these weak weak men and women look so weak in Congress. Pelosi, H. Clinton, Lieberman, are a joke. They have been bought and sold. Kennedy, Feingold, and Kucinich are really the only ones I respect for flexing some muscle.

The man was even shut out of the debates. How democratic is that?

OK, if Gore and Kerry were too weak to run a good campaign, why look for a third party scapegoat for their incompetence. Maybe if those men would have had some courage and a message they might have been president. This is the type of weakness I am talking about here. I am glad I finally got a weak answer as an example.

They mock him not just because they don't want people to know the truth but because they don't want people to take the truth seriously. For example, it is not in the interests of corporations who donate huge sums of money to politicians' (of both parties) election campaigns to have more fair elections which might result in the election of candidates who are not beholden to their (corporate) interests. They can't attack his positions about fair elections because his positions are easy to defend and everyone supports democracy (plus this could encourage people to think about issues). They can't really attack his character because he has good character (particularly in comparison to the other candidates) and this is well known, though there have been attempts to spread lies about his character (starting with GM back in the 60s). So when they can't keep him out of the news, they mock him, they try to make him out to be an eccentric old man with illusions of grandeur, a well-intentioned egomaniac, a big joke--it's the best way left to get people to ignore what he's saying and doing.
Ralph Nader ran not because his goal in life is to be president and to have power, there is really no evidence to that effect, rather he ran to educate people and to push issues (and so, to help ordinary Americans), because his running in itself did make many Americans think about the real situation of the country, our real interests and real solutions and also to try to get other candidates to adopt some of his positions on issues like health care, a living wage, the war, education, the list goes on and on (if you're not already familiar with it there's plenty of information about his positions on votenader.org in addition to nader.org which you already mentioned). And there are loads of evidence that suggest that he cares passionately about the welfare of the American people (Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, seatbelts, Freedom of Information Act, and tons of citizen groups are just a few for starters).
Another note, I'm not a betting person but I'll bet the person who wrote that bit about "Run Ralphie Run" (to "help" Republicans) is a Democrat. To him/her: You can't steal votes because no one is entitled to a vote; votes are earned. Furthermore, in Florida in 2000, a lot more Democrats voted for Bush than the number of people who voted for Nader--maybe Gore "spoiled" it for himself.

I don't know a lot about Nader, but I think it is great that he is willing to fight and stand proudly for his party.
And all those Democrats who complain that he took votes from their party?? Please stop! Ralph Nader is not a democrat, and the people who voted for him voted this way because they believed in what HE said, not what some Democrat said! The reason Gore did not make it to office was because there weren't enough people (states) who really believed in what he stood for and thought. (Sorry everyone, just had to get that out! And if anyone wants to know, I am not a democrat--okay, yeah, I am registered that way, but only so I can vote locally--but I am also not a Republican or anything, I am just someone who is in the grey on many issues, but has strong opinions and sees that there are flaws in ALL candidates!) Since there are no candidates in the democrat or republican party that believe what I believe, I am glad there are Ralph Naders out there and only hope that there are more candidates from other parties who will run for president.
I don't know a lot about Ralph Nader, but I am going to his website now to learn more! I have only been old enough to vote in the last election, but I want to make good decisions in other elections. So, thanks for the website hint!

Ralph Nader has some good ideas, but he absolutely no practical skills whatsoever. He siphoned off votes from the Left that would have gone to Gore in 2000 and, though he was arguing for what was arguably a good cause, anyone with any practical brains left in their head would have realized that he would split the Democratic (at least Left) vote. Had he not run, we would be in Gore's second term with two additional centrist judges on the Supreme Court, no war in Iraq, and no nuclear showdown with North Korea. So tell Nader hi for me and thank him for helping to dismantle America's credibility.

I really get tired of people saying "a third party only takes away from democrats or republicans" or if you vote third party your vote will have been wasted. I think the rep. and dems are alot like Chevy and ford. used to be. They have people believing they are the only ones. I wish people would get a clue.

People tend to stay true to their Party, and vote for their Party's candidate. They didn't even consider Nader.

He dared to rock the boat. He spoke the truth and the public loved that. Politicians are afraid of the public knowing the truth.
