The misconception is that Rep. don't support black-favored programs like Affirmative Action. The truth is that Black Ppl see Rep candidates as racist. Democrats like Clinton at least understood Black Ppl plight. Clinton studied in Africa, he plays Jazz and even got an office in Brooklyn. We don't need any special favors, a sincere Understanding is all we ask.

Bush has to be forced to even visit the NAACP.

Funny thing is that the Republican arty was the original party of choice for African-Americans, the Party of Lincoln. But when FDR came with the New Deal and Republicans started opposing these programs that helped poor people (in those days almost everyone) and the party bases started shifting AA started shifting towards the Democratic Party as well. Since the Old Dixiecrats (and their ideologial heirs) are now Republicans it just helps keeping the AA community in the Democratic Party.

I believe you that there is a sincere mistrust of Republicans amongst the black voters. There has to be, how else could you explain the overwhelming support of Democrats by black people in America?

I personally don't agree with the Republicans on much of anything, or the Democrats for that matter... but if I was black, I would vote Republican -intensely-. And I guess I'm deeply confused as to why more black voters don't.

Here's why I'm so confused... Democrats historically were incredibly racist. Republicans are the party of Lincoln. At one of Kerry's campaign stops, someone pointed out that the only black people in the room were the ones setting up the chairs. Southern Democrats fought to hold onto segregation tooth-and-nail.

Now Democrats seem to act like black people can't do it on their own. The minority-based entitlements are the most insulting thing ever to happen to black people. Affirmative action? Like saying black people can't cut it. That's just wrong, and one of the most racist programs in America.

Yes, Clinton played jazz. He got an office in Brooklyn. But how many black people did he put in his cabinet? How many on the Supreme Court? He was great at shaking hands and kissing babies, but what about a seat at the table?

I may despise Bush for many things, but I'd be a fool if I thought he was a racist. He doesn't kiss babies very well, but he, and the entire Republican party, brought a seat to the table for black voters. They put black people on the Supreme Court, as Secretary of State, and as a number of other high-power positions. When has a Democrat -ever- been first to appoint a black person to a position of power? I'll give you the answer. Never. Because at the end of the day, they take the black vote, give them an entitlement, and don't let them sit at their table.

Personally I always thought Bill Clinton was as phony as a 3 dollar bill.
Same with Jessie Jackson... He'd be a great mafia Lieutenant. He's one of the best shake-down artists in america today.

And DON'T get me started on the NAACP. When someone from any other race, other the African American, comes into any kind of hardship or despair, they don't want to know anything about it. However when an Af. Am person just as much scratches his or her finger, they 're ready to call out the army, and get the blood of the people who caused that scratch

You are wrong on a couple of points. 1, Pres. Bush did not get along with the previous leader of the NAACP, so there was a rift. 2, I know more Dem. who are racist than Rep. That is an incorrect statement. 3, Pres. Bush has had more racial diversity in his Cabinet over the last 6.5 years than any other Pres.

What, when and where did Clinton study in Africa? Is this documented anywhere?

Bush wasn't "forced to even visit the NAACP"; he went after the insane shrieking out of the NAACP during his first few years in office died down and he received a civil invitation (read, Gordon wanted Bush to speak and Bond didn't, figuring he could get more mileage out of Bush staying away (stupid, I know, but, nevertheless, true).

Do you really think the left cares about blacks? They care about your votes. You've been sold a bill of goods. I'm not saying the right cares any more then the left but if you think the left cares about anything other then votes you need to wake up.

Why should the President want to visit the NAACP? They've proved in the past they are nothing but bomb throwers at the right. The only difference between them and the clan is the color of their skin and suits they ware.

1) Clinton's mentor was a segregationist
2) Al Gore's father was a segregationist
3) Manhattan was Clinton's first choice for an office, but was pressured to take a cheaper place in Harlem for appearance sake. This caused gentrification and higher rents and prices, hurting low income blacks.
4) Hollywood is one of the biggest supporters of Democrat candidates, and it's also a hugely racist institution.
5) More Republicans than Democrats voted for the 1960s Civil Rights Acts.
6) Planned Parenthood is one of the cornerstones of Democrat supporters. P.P.'s founder was Margret Sanger. Sanger was extremely racist, and pushed eugenics on minorities like blacks and hispanics.
7) Gun control supporters are almost always Democrats. Gun control laws came into effect as racist ways to keep newly freed slaves from possessing firearms. The K.K.K. often got these laws put on the books.
8) There's only one member of Congress with a history of being a member of the K.K.K., and he's a high ranking Democrat Senator from West Virginia.
9) Democrat Ernest Hollings, Governor of South Carolina, allowed the Confederate battle flag to be raised over the state capital in 1962. Hollings is a beloved Democrat leader.

Then-Governor Clinton was among three state officials the NAACP sued in 1989 under the federal Voting Rights Act of 1965. "Plaintiffs offered plenty of proof of monolithic voting along racial lines, intimidation of black voters and candidates and other official acts that made voting harder for blacks," the Arkansas Gazette reported December 6, 1989. It added: "the evidence at the trial was indeed overwhelming that the Voting Rights Act had been violated."

A three-judge federal panel ordered Clinton and Arkansas's then-Attorney General Steve Clark and then-Secretary of State William J. McCuen to redraw electoral districts to maximize black voting strength.

During his 12-year tenure, Governor Clinton never approved a state civil-rights law. However, he did issue birthday proclamations honoring Confederate leaders Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee. He also signed Act 116 in 1987. That statute reconfirmed that the star directly above the word "Arkansas" in the state flag "is to commemorate the Confederate States of America." Arkansas also observed Confederate Flag Day every year Clinton served. The governor's silence was consent.

Arkansas' former governor, the late Orval Eugene Faubus, attended Bill Clinton's 1979 gubernatorial inauguration, where the two pols hugged, as Arkansas Democrat-Gazette editorial page editor Paul Greenberg recalls. Faubus, of course, resisted the integration of Little Rock's Central High School in 1957. He actually deployed National Guard soldiers to bar nine black students from entering. Republican President Dwight Eisenhower dispatched soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division to break that logjam and give the black teens a fighting chance to learn. Clinton once lauded that same Faubus as a "man of significant ability."

Just this fall, Clinton praised Arkansas' late Democratic senator J. William Fulbright, a notorious segregationist who opposed the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the 1965 Voting Rights Act. He also signed the Southern Manifesto, which denounced the U.S. Supreme Court's landmark Brown vs. Board of Education school desegregation decision in 1954. Clinton called Fulbright "My mentor, a visionary, a humanitarian."

Part of the reason may be historic. The Civil Rights Movement (1965?) eventually caused the Democrats in Congress to propose and make laws helping African Americans. After that, the Southern States, with mostly white voters, quickly switched sides and voted Republican. African Americans however, saw their effort and embraced the Democratic Party.

The reason why blacks vote for democrats is that the democrats have conned the blacks for many years. The democrats have been giving the blacks massive welfare programs and have endorsed policies that promote illegitimacy, laziness, etc for years. They sure did wonders with those housing projects, didn't they?? ALL of that stuff simply gave the democrats the tools to put the blacks into another form of slavery. LBJ is probably still laughing his *** off in his grave. All for a bunch of votes!!
