my guess, trophy wife, is that YOU are the one who wants a baby, not him. Just do IVF and a sperm extraction. Having a baby when he is over 50 means changing the diapers on your baby and him!!!

nope cause at his age he may have hit male menopause. yes there is such thing and at ya'lls age there is not a great chance of getting pregnant and him have it done 20 years ago i doubt it will be worth it. going by what i have just read its not worth it especly looking at his age and how long he has had his nasectomy theres not a good chance of getting pregnant on 30% chance and only a 71% chance that thay can even do it for him

HOW SUCCESSFUL IS THE PROCEDURE?
Training, experience and technique is extremely important to the success of the procedure. However, the cause of the blockage (e.g., vasectomy, infection or trauma) and whether a unilateral (single side) or bilateral (both side) connection can be made is also very important. Your particular situation might affect your results. This is one reason why the consultation prior to the procedure is so important - to give you the realistic 'success rate' for your particular situation.

In addition, how one defines success varies. The presence of any sperm in the ejaculate? The presence of a normal amount of sperm with proper motility? A successful pregnancy with ejaculated sperm? A pregnancy through use off assisted reproduction efforts?

I have listed below the percent of men I have operated upon, that have had sperm in their ejaculate within the first year after their procedure. Infrequently, the connection 'closes down' resulting in no sperm being present in the ejaculate. It is for this potential occurrence that I recommend banking sperm obtained during the surgical procedure and after sperm is found in the ejaculate.

Many of the procedures referred to me are complex microsurgical cases resulting from previously unsuccessful procedures, trauma or infection.

% of men with sperm in their ejaculate within one year after:

Bilateral Vasovasostomy: 98%

Unilateral vasovasostomy: 85%

Bilateral Vasoepididymostomy: 75%

Unilateral Vasoepididymostomy: 70%

Here's a post that goes into the chances of success relative to the length of time since the vasectomy.

And here's one on pain, or the lack thereof...

Good luck to you. I'm 51; my wife 35. We're still waiting to see if my VR was successful.

The pain is probably irrelevant if he too wants a child.
As for the chances - well, probably somewhat better than 50/50.
As much depends upon the original surgery as the present surgeon.
Its worth a go in my view, good luck.

It's not likely to be very successful. The chances of success are related to the time since the original operation. In any case, men who have a reversal tend to have a lower sperm count, and at 50 his sperm count will have dropped naturally.

I would not recommend it.
