You should at least know the proper uses of the word their, they're, and there before you call others ignorant.

Well, first off, Texas isn't in the south. Texas is where the west begins. Do your homework and you'll find that out.
Secondly, are you saying that ALL southerners are Christian and ALL northerners aren't? That would come as a really big shock to the hundreds of northern Christians I personally know. Not to mention all the southerners who AREN'T Christian.
And thirdly, if you are setting yourself out as a forward thinking, educated, non Christian northerner you need to improve your spelling, punctuation and grammar a lot to make that believable. You can learn those things at some of the highest ranked colleges and universities in the nation, which are right here in "The South".
I doubt seriously if you have ever even visited the south, OR the west. And I'm sure you don't know any true southerners, or you'd never be able to believe all the crap you are spewing. Have you ever wondered where the term Damn Yankee comes from? Look in a mirror! Hmmmmm.....just goes to show you what an All-Yankee area is like!

Have you ever lived in the South or just visited?
I live in the South and completely disagree with what you are saying. It may be true that the south is behind as far as K-12 education is concerned but it is not uneducated as a whole. There are many great colleges in the south (like Georgia Tech, University of Georgia, Duke, Emory, University of Florida, the list could go on). Atlanta is a thriving city in the South with great incomes. People in the South are a lot nicer and very friendly. It may be "slow paced" but people take the time to get to know their neighbors; guys still act like gentlemen. And just because it's "The Bible Belt" it doesn't mean that EVERYONE is a Christian. Being a christian has nothing to do with the things you described. People are like that everywhere not just in the South.
I think you have an issue with Christianity, not the South.

I had to do a presentation two years ago that involved Anti-Southern Bigotry.
All of your generalities have been fed by northerners since the Civil War.
Not all southerners are Christians. I know tons of non Christian southerners. The south has no more crime than the north, the law here is to go to school just like in the north, and not everyone is low income.
Maybe you should get acquainted with some people in a small town, like mine, where there are two main places people work. For the steel plant or for the chicken company. People get stuck here and CAN'T leave! They get laid off time and time again from the steel company, even though they have the capability to do way better, but they want to be with their family.
Most of my friends dad's work at the steel plant and are laid off more than three times a year. But they don't leave. Because they can't. Not because they are uneducated, but because they would rather be with their family. My mom has a major in fashion merchandising, but is a first grade teacher. Because she wants to be there for her kids.

Wonder if you have checked lately on the level of intelligence in the students coming out of the schools in California or elsewhere.. How you find it convenient to place this disadvantage to the south is a bit difficult to understand. You are not keeping up with the times...
There is and has been a continual dumbing down (in the educational system) for more than 30 years.. so is actually nationwide. It is so bad the congress (pressed by Bush) set out to try and remedy this situation.
There are kids all over the country who are unable to read above 4th grade level. Yet they get diplomas. In the 80's universities were forced to lower their entry requirements to keep the flow of students going.
There is an advantage to having enough years to have observed these changes taking place.

I am truly offended by your question. I am from the south. I am a Christian. I do not agree with incest, or crime, and I'm not skack jawed. Maybe if you would get to know some people from the south, maybe you would change your attitude.
Before you start calling people un-educated, you should learn the correct usage of there and they're.

Oh no you just didn't! First of all, in the beginning of your sentence you wrote, " and there all christians..." Let me correct you. "And they're all Christians.." Don't be a goof ball and call me backwards and uneducated. You can find everything you mentioned in any part of the country. Don't make me come through this computer screen and break open a can of whoop@ss on you. You damned Yankee!!!! And by the way, if you're ever down in Georgia, stop by and I'll whip you up a batch of biscuit and gravy. Can't help my southern hospitality.

Whoa there bubba! Are you from New England? You are a pompous, arrogant, uneducated "ham and egger!" Not ALL Christians reside in the "Bible Belt", and not Southerners are Christians, as you appear not to be a Christian either. However those of us who are Christian, have an education, and are from the South wish you all would get an education, find God and leave everyone else alone!

It just proves how ignorant you really are.

It's called the Bible Belt, but barely anyone there is a Christian. I used to live there and a lot of people said that they "went to Church," but going to Church doesn't make you a Christian. That's like going to the hospital and saying you are a doctor. It's just a more religious part of the country, but not because they actually live what they preach. It's more of a cultural thing.
This isn't to say that there aren't real Christians out there in the Southeast, because I saw them there too. But most of the people are rednecks who are living in the 1860's.

Careful there, you're exhibiting some of the same behaviors you impute to us Southerners. For goodness sake, you can't generalize to an entire region of a country from what you see in the news or other media. We could say the same things about ALL the people from the Northeast being uptight and stodgy, pretentious. OR that Californians are ALL liberal, drug taking phonies. Stereotypes are just that, gross generalizations that have little or no basis in reality.
