its all about the posstion of the alle in the geans and the quantity of pigmant. though some may see it as a dficit of pigment and therefore a badthing, others like myself see it as a good thing, ie blue green eyes as a result of little pigment.

i think you should take a look at this, it expalins it all in gd detail

It's not a defect and doesn't occur because something is missing or present, it's a case of whether the person is carrying dominant (brown) or recessive (blue/green) alleles in their genetic makeup. If the colour was truly missing you would have nothing but the iris' base colour - pink - which is when albinos happen.

Possibly brown eyes are more resilient when it comes to sunlight because of the increased levels of melanin pigmentation, but that would only hold good for people from sunnier climes, rather than worldwide...

DAMN NO.... I have beautiful green eyes.......

I do NOT have any defects, thank you!!!!!

Joking apart, the colour of the eyes does not indicate any defects what-so-ever. The genes problems you are thinking of may reflect yes, not only in the eyes, but in many various parts of the body.

However beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder - my husband is really proud of my beautiful green eyes. My sister inherited deep sky blue colour same as my dad.

With regard to health - we never encountered any health problems in life and I practice a lot of sport. I guess if I had a problem my instructors and GP would have notices something by now, NO???

Think of something else man.

In basic terms, eye color is determined by the amount of a pigment called melanin that is in the iris of the eye. Brown eyes have lots of pigment, blue eyes very little. The amount of pigment is determined by a number of genes controlling pigment production. Generally speaking, brown is dominant, meaning that if one parent has brown eyes and the other has blue eyes, the baby will most likely have brown eyes. But the situation is really much more complicated than that. For a more complete description, read on.

Have you been sitting out in the sun too long? Variety is the spice of life, therefore, blue, green, black, brown, or whatever other combination of colour eyes are, all are healthy and beautiful. Start thinking for yourself and tell "somebody" to get lost!

I have brown eyes, but I think that people with blue or green eyes look beautifal and i dont think that having blue or green eyes means you have a jean defect, I think that is a whole load of cobblers, this is something genetic.

Ps, i would love to have blue or green eyes

Sounds like you have been talking to someone with an anti-Caucasian agenda to promote. Do they feel the same way about hair color or skin color?

Bottom line is that eye color is a genetic trait. Color variations are simply that, variations, not defects. the exception is the true albino who has pink eyes due to a lack of pigment caused by what is considered a genetic "defect".

While blue and green eyes no doubt result from a mutation from the original dark eyes found in humans, who originated in a hotter climate, saying they are a defect is like saying black skin, white skin or epicanthic folds are a defect and is quite racist. Northern Europeans benefit from having less pigment in a cold climate, and there is no benefit in having dark eyes there.

even though I prefer black eyes and think green are pretty unattractive and blue eyes are just ok(except blue-green, thats nice), blue eyes and green eyes are a genetic mutation, but not a defect.

it has nothing to do with being jealous, my science textbook stated that having blue or green eyes isn't bad but they are weaker than brown eyes because blue/green eyes have less protection against uv rays!

if u dont believe me go check it out on some eye site!

A load of rubbish!

Dark eyes with the right complexion is beautiful, as are light coloured eyes on a different complexion. And light coloured eyes on a darker complexion can be very striking, therefore beautiful. So the person who told you that rubbish is talking out of their bottie.
