First, I would call one of the three credit agencies and place a fraud alert on your credit report. This will require a creditor to call you before opening a new account and make it difficult for your ex-wife to continue what she is doing. If you call one of the bureaus, it will notify the other two. You can at the same time, ask for a free credit report. You are entitled to one when you place a fraud alert on your reports. Here are the numbers:

Equifax: 1-800-525-6285
Experian: 1-888-397-3742
TransUnion: 1-800-680-7289

Second, close all the accounts your lovely wife has opened and tell the creditors you have been a victim of identity theft. If they want you to provide a written statement, use this:

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/affidavit.pdf

I would then file a police report and keep a copy for your records. Some creditors may require you to provide them with a copy of the police report.

I hope this helps. Best of luck.

Yes, go to the police today! Also go to the SS office and let them know what is going on so they too can make a report. It is very important to do both of these things. Then get a lawyer and take her to court!

If you want to stop her, yes you do. You may want to see an attorney to protect your rights or a credit counselor for more advice on how to clean up your credit. It can be especially hard to do when the person using your credit is a "family" member.

OF COURSE YOU DO.

EVER HEARD OF IDENTITY THEFT? IT'S ILLEGAL.

She needs to be held accountable, becuase you will be hurting for a long time about this.

Are you a doormat? Are you going to lay down and take it from her? Don't go down like that!

File a police report ASAP and do what you have to to sue her for the amount, and for punitive damages.

Yes, you need to file a police report and have her azz arrested....get a good attorney. What she is doing is fraud and illegal. You are also not bound to pay these things as you never signed any agreement....have the company show you your signature.

She is stealing your ID, so it is a crime. If she is legally your Ex (not "seperated") then she is not allowed to do that. She's stealing! ID Theft! If you got the proof you can press charges.

I definately recommend you ask a lawyer for legal advice.

Hope everything works out.
