I'm asking as research. I know of course that this is not preferred in Western society but know that it is in other societies. I'm just wondering which ones.

I am not so sure about societies, but I would check by region.
Any community that views family as the primary focus would be in favor of larger women by nurturing and child bearing aspects.
Weather might also have an impact on how a viilage or community views women. Let's say outer Mongolia, larger women may be seen as better providers since it's mostly cold.
Areas based upon different religons will also have a sway toward physical appearance. Mayan civilizations viewed larger women as fertile.
There are many cultures that view sex with reproduction as its primary focus. So I would think that any society that has a general view of that would be less likely to view just thin women as sexual objects.

From what I have read, the Polynesian culture, and some African cultures, favour women who are bountifully built. I have had Middle Eastern friends who also prefer their ladies on the large side. Also here in S. Spain older men prefer women to be what they call an "armful" rather than the supermodel type.

try Hawaii and Samoa.. they are naturally thick people. I have watched Spanish Soaps and the women on there are curvy... very pretty too! I doubt curves are preferred in Europe or USA. Then again... I watch Rap videos and the girls are CURVY!! lol.. i think it just depends on what men consider beautiful on an individual basis.

Check on the Phillipines and Hawaii. I am sure that those are two examples.
You may want to extend the search to Carribean countries in general, and to Islands in and around Indonesia.

There is a certain African culture that actually fattens up their women in order to find them a husband. They have her sit in a hut, moving as little as possible while gorging on food to fatten her up.
