The "Jack The Ripper" murders were carried out by one person. The identity of that person is unknown.

Recently on the news the identity of Jack The Ripper was revealed, or so they say. All they did was name a likely suspect in Kosminski.

The royal connection is total hogwash and the three so-called Ripper letters were also a hoax. These hoax letters were signed "Jack The Ripper" and that is where the name came from. But the letters were a stunt pulled by a newspaper reporter to sell more papers.

Nobody will ever know the true identity of the Ripper.

Any TV programmes or films will always make out that the Ripper had Royal connections, this is because the Royal connection will make more people intrigued than just some unheard of guy who lived in Whitechapel in 1888. This means more people will watch it and the TV or film companies will make more money.

Any books that claim to know the identity of the Ripper are also money making stunts (e.g. Stephen Knight's Final Solution and Patricia Cornwell's Portrait Of A Killer). Also "The Diary Of Jack The Ripper" uses the hoax letters as a focal point and so isn't worth the paper it is written on.

If you want to read about the murders you will get a better account from a historians point of view, where the research has been carried out meticulously. Philip Sugdens book on the Ripper is the only one you need.

Swan - "From Hell" follows the royal conspiracy which is utter bollocks. The Jack The Ripper murders took place in 1888 and the royal conspiracy didn't materialise until the 1970's when Stephen Knight wrote his book "Jack The Ripper : The Final Solution". Ask anyone who has shown an interest in the Ripper murders, and the royal conspiracy is the biggest joke of them all.

Their are many theories about who Jack the Ripper was, but most agree the 5 murders were all attributed to one person who seemed skilled with a knife and understood basic human anatomy.

I don't believe there was actually another person involved in the killings themselves, but according to some, he was a member of the English royal family and his behavior would have been facilitated by his rank and privilege.
