File a claim with your homeowner's insurance company. They will send an adjustor out to scope your loss and take a lot of pictures, then the adjustor will go back to thier office, write up an estimate, and if the insurance company justifies it all, you should receive a check in the mail, minus whatever your deductible is for your insurance. Of course, this is all dependent on the amount of coverage you have on your home. But it should be covered by most basic homeowner's policies.

If you don't have homeowner's insurance, you're pretty much screwed and will be forking over the money for the repairs out of your own pocket. Might be time to start looking for that second job....

Fix it! Make a claim with your insurance company, and do what you need to do to prevent any further damage to the property if possible. Start getting bids for the repair work while you wait for the insurance to process your claim, but don't start anything until it's settled with the insurance.

Well, you might want to be more specific. But, you know the first thing is to call your Insurance Co. and to cover-up and make quick repairs to parts of your home that left exposed can get worse.

First call your insurance person and get them working on it. Call your family and let them know you are okay. Then call your local red cross or salvation army and see if they can come across with food and housing for you right now. Then call your creditors and let them know what happened and that it will take awhile for you to establish a new mailbox number and getting your payments sent. Call your friends and see if they can help with clothing etc.
