I am assuming you won't know the type of fish till they get a little bigger and start defining their look. It could have been any of those fish that had the babies.

It is good that you separated them, because they will get eaten.
You will need to talk to a knowledgeable person about food for the babies. You can put them back in the tank once they are older.

They are most likely mollie fry. The mollies are the only livebearers in your tank. Unless you want to have all the fry eaten, you need to either get another tank for them (with a filter, heater and everything else) or get a net for the fry to live in. You can get a net at any place that sells fish.

Unless you want to buy a few more tanks or have no one to give the fish to, you might want to put them back in the tank with the other fish. They will get about 2-3 inches and need room. You need about 2 gallons of water per mollie.

One more thing you didn't ask about, but I'm going to tell you. You should not keep the goldfish in the same tank as the rest of your fish. Goldfish are cold water fish and the rest of your fish are warm water fish. Goldfish are also very dirty fish compared to the rest of your fish. You will need to clean the tank alot more with the goldfish, or risk you other fish getting really sick. I definately would not keep the fry in the same tank with the goldfish. They are small and very suseptable to illnesses.

You also should not get new fish so close together. You should only add 2 new fish once a week. They don't do well if you add so many fish at once.

You can go to Walmart or any store that sell fish supplies and get what is called a holding cell. It looks like a plastic box that is put into the water and is hung over the side of the aquarium. This way other fish cannot get to the fish and eat them. There they can grow and feel safe. Look on the internet and find a website explaining what is the best thing to do for the babies. I do know that they need to be in a filtered tank so you need to remove them from the fishbowel because without a filter they will not get the oxygen that they need. Good Luck with your fish and always feel comfortable to go into a pet shop that has fish and ask them your questions.

It is a good thing that you put the babies (called fry) in the fish bowl or the fry would of been eaten. The fry are most likely to be mollies because mollies are live-bearers ( that means they give birth to young and don't lay eggs.) and mollies almost always get pregnant when you leave a male and a female together for about a day. You should put the fry back in when they are big enough to not be eaten.

Chances are, they belong to the molly, as she is the only livebearer in that tank (and since the tank is so small, if there were eggs, they would've been eaten).

You need to keep them in a filtered, aerated tank. However, do not put them back into the tank with the others, as they will eat them. Feed them crushed tropical flake food or put some cooked egg yolk into a spray bottle with water, shake it, and add one spray to the tank with the babies every 4 hours.

The biggest thing right now will be good water quality. Hence while you need them in a clean, cycled, filtered tank with lots of plants and hiding spots.

EDIT for Jake:

We've been telling him that for the last couple days. Seems he doesn't want to listen to us. Trust me when I say quite a few of us are *very* surprised one of the fish died (end sarcasm).

The be conscious fishes is actual staggering in this question--'fishes' is used for even as there are a range of of communities of fish, or the form of fish is unknown. do not inquire from me how i do not forget that. =] It relies upon... the single time i have ever experienced it, they were the large black goldfish with bulging eyes (i will't keep in mind the call). there have been about 15-20 tiny little itsy bitsy black fish, very hard to % out, yet i'm no longer particular maximum of them made it. besides the undeniable fact that, it ought to selection reckoning on the form of fish... do somewhat analyze on the particular form and probably that'll help. solid success, i wish this helped!

well there is a way to know if they're fertilized or not.. I think they become opaque, but I'm not sure. You're right to put them in another tank and don't move the babies back into the tank until they are about as big as the smallest fish of their kind. You might want to sell a lot of them because there will be a lot.

You did the right thing by switching the tanks. Next time look for increases in size in there stomach. Then put the mother in a new tank and wait till the babys come.Go to your local pet store and by some breeding grass for the baby birth. You can put thenm back in about 3 weeks.
