But X2 is common among the board makers, so chances are it will.

Yes, you can pull the old processor out and put in the new one. The first time you boot up after that, you may need to enter your BIOS and make sure it recognizes the processor correctly. Make sure you get a new heatsink and some thermal grease - the new processors run extremely hot - they will die almost immediately without the heatsink.
