I have a 1984 RX-7 that will start and hold idol but when I give it excelleration the engine stalls at about 2000 rpm. The Carb was recently rebuilt

If I throttle the excellarater, I can get the engine over 2000 rpm and can hold it above 2000 rpm. It only stalls when I roll on the gas pedal.

this might sound kinda stupid but check your air intake, my mother had the exact same car and it did the exact same thing but when checked her air intake a mouse or something had built a nest in there that wound up stopping the right amount of air to pass threw.

in the initiating, a mission like this isn't loose. it is not any longer merely drop the engine in, tighten some bolts, and swap the major. It is composed of wiring harnesses, engine administration, transmission substitute, and so on. it isn't properly worth doing a V8 conversion. Why do not you merely regulate the engine that you've now. There are forums on the information superhighway for Rx-7's.

your question is alittle confusing, does the engine cut out at 2k and you have to restart? or will it not go over 2k? If it is stalling at 2k and you have to turn key to restart then you most likely are loosing spark or fuel pressure, if it wont go over 2k may be loosing fuel pressure or clogged exhaust( cat convertors, you have a few on that motor) also had a few of those rotarys loose compression at higher rpms, , we would dump a quart of trans fluid into intake while engine was running, it would stall, then we'd let them sit for an hour, then we'd restart, smoke like hell, then once smoke cleared compression was good

Yeh, rotory motor. It's probably worn out. I'm guessing it's got over 100K on it. They just didn't last. Sorry. Good luck.

it sounds like there is no spark when you excell. check the spark plugs, plug wires, and your intake
