Why do you oppose abortions yet you turn the other cheek when innocent children are being massacred in countries like Lebanon? You may say Israel is just trying to defend itself, and your probably true, but don't you think we should at least try to help the Lebanese people flee the country or put pressure on Israel to minimize civilian casualties, you may say that its not our problem but it is, do you honestly think that a child who witnesses Israel destroying his house or killing his family(as unintentional as it may be) is going to grow up wanting peace with Israel?children like that will just grow up with extreme rage and hatred toward Israel and (as Israel's only ally) the U.S. and then we will have to deal with another generation of terrorist. I have no doubt in my mind that the Hezbollah firing rockets into Israel are mostly made up of the victims of the last Israeli invasion of Lebanon in the the 1980's
My question is why do we have to let the cycle repeat itself?

Ok, I am a conservative, I am pro-choice. and I am Libertarian I don't have all the answers. However, I am sure that Israel is not trying to kill civilians, but when military targets are placed in civilian locations, unfortunately civilians are injured or killed. What about the bombings on London during WWII, did the children who witnessed those bombings become terrorists and want to destroy all the Germans? Did the terrorists who took out the planes and towers on 9/11 worry about civilian causalities? We are dealing with religious fanatics and there is no fathoming their reasoning. Would you allow your child to be used as a human bomb? Would your God demand that? I don't think that we, if WE is the United States, really has any control over this cycle repeating itself. How many centuries has this war really been happening? This is a war that most Americans really do not comprehend.

I think this is a good question, but I don't think this should be geared toward conservatives only. I guess you just wanted to point out that conservatives are opposed to abortion first of all. I wish that I knew more about the current situation, but in any case, I just want to point out that our country is trying to protect Israel, as no one else is there to help them. I believe they have suffered many losses and hardships because of Hezbollah already, and we are there to help protect them. We are not there to kill innocent civilians, that is NEVER our plans. Does that make it right that we help one country and turn our back on the other? I don't know, none of us really know the answer yet. But the USA (or the conservatives, since everyone wants to blame them) just wants to help preserve peace in this area and at home, and this is the way they chose to do so. And, in response to your terrorist comment, I can agree with you that a child like that may grow up with these intentions toward Israel and the US, but would that happen to all those in Israel faced with their situation now? Yes. War is rampant in this area, and possible terrorists may come from one of many countries. They may even come from those countries in which the United States has had little or nothing to do with. No one knows, that's why we are doing everything we can to help protect ourselves and others. Maybe it would help is our country was not as divided as it is today, our conservatives and liberals need to get together and learn to be HONEST with each other. We all want to be right, but sometimes it is best to be honest, put all the facts out there (which I know is not always an option for our government), and make decisions based on the real issues, not the surface or what one party wants out of it.

I apologize for getting off track and probably not even answering your question!

The cycle will not repeat itself if one side completely destroys the other. Look at what happened after WW2. Germany and Japan had massive civilian casualties, but the cycle of violence did not continue. Why not? Because we destroyed the enemy completely. We didn't just destroy the military and government, we crushed the entire country, the population, their spirit, and their culture.

If Israel stops killing Hezbollah because the civilian toll gets too high, then you are right, the cycle will continue. However, if Israel destroys Hezbollah completely, despite the civilian casualties, there is a chance the cycle can be broken.

Civilian casualties are unfortunate, but they are unavoidable, and are the fault of the aggressor (Hezbollah in this case).

Yo, Jim_W, get a life, dude! And, while you're at it, take an English class - it's obviously not your first language and you're embarrassing yourself (just thought I'd be the first to tell ya).

I can answer that for you. They don't care about children, they just want to keep women in their place...uneducated, no rights, and pregnant. Has nothing to do with morals, just fear of a woman's power.
