Heat brings thunderstorms. Ever heard of 'heat lightning.' My friend Brett thinks that the weather is a sign of the end of the world

Weather has always been freakish...the only difference now is we have the means of communication so that the media can scare you by telling you about freakish weather from every part of the globe, making it sound like it's gotten worse when, in fact, it's always been like that.

As for global warming...here's just one example: Britain was having very bad flooding a few years ago. Scientists said it was because of global warming and that Britons would have to get used to it. Now that they are having drought over there, other scientists say that too is because of global warming. Sorry, it can't be both. that is just one example of people saying every turn of the weather is caused by global warming...and most people just soak it all up without questioning the opposing information.

There is a little known formula that in a sense has been lost. To explain I will use first the swamp cooler like the units in the desert to cool the house. There is a transfer of heat ,which is 60 cal. for each cubic centimeter of water that is evaporated.that is one side of the transfer. Now energy is not destroyed it only changes states.then when any fuel is burned there is water vapor .
whine a cloud starts to condense the water vapor back into water the same energy 60 cal. be produced in reverse. the same 60 cal. will be released as heat causing tremendous updrafts ,some of this energy is converted to lightning , the determining factor is how fast the condense factor happens . if it happens fast due to a strong cool front as u see a monster is created in the storm. with tremendous updrafts which causes severe lightning and tornadoes or hurricanes.
Good luck study hard

Back in the mid-1970s my first mother-in-law was commenting on the weird weather and insisted, "It has to be because of those men messing around on the moon." I was watching the record highs and lows recently and noticed that mid-July of 1901 was hotter than now in my part of the world, several days in a row. The lows were between that year and now, so I had to chuckle when looking at that. When I lived in Oklahoma, we used to quote Will Rogers, whose statement has been variously reported elsewhere as well, "If you don't like the weather [in Oklahoma], just wait a while [because it will change]." I love to get the global weather picture on Intellicast, shows storms around the world, and as a US congressman (as reported by a political science professor who used to work for another congressman) noted during a discussion of cloud-seeding experiments, "Why this whole world is turning and sooner or later we'll get under those clouds [so someone could seed them and make them rain]"

in response to the az_imagined's answer much of the drought is a result of a lack of snow during the winter and is an inland problem this can be linked to global warming - the storms effect the coastline in a very differrent way that can also be linked to it

Don't know, but the heat is really annoying me and I can't get enough of lightning and thunder, as long as I'm safe. We're lucky in the UK, as we don't get anything extreme for quite a few years.
