no, wrongo, you can drink one beer, and still be an alcoholic.

Alcoholism is the addiction to alcohol. That means you feel like you need to drink. If you CANT just NOT drink the alcohol, then youre an addict, and being addicted is alcoholism.
If you have to drink the whole beer, and *cant stop yourself* at a half a beer, youre also an alcoholic.

You can still drink a lot, and not be an alcoholic. Try going a week without drinking, and see how you feel when you arent drinking the 12 pack in yor fridge. Dont make up excuses for drinking them, either. Seriously. Go buy a 12 pack and see how long you can control yourself. Honestly, if you cant just NOT DRINK, you are an alcoholic. Most people and organizations consider alcoholism an addiction that interferes with your life in some way.
I say, you have to have acquired that life somehow, in the process of becoming an alcoholic, so you could still be an alcoholic even if you dont think it has interfered in yur work, school, relationships, family, etc yet.
Ask the people you know if the think youre an alcoholic. Ask your boss, your co-wokers. Ex lovers, family members, etc. Let people know you are concerned about your drinking habits, and need some support from them to change.
I also want to say- you can still DRINK, even if youre an alcoholic. Just keep it scheduled, and make sure you stick to the schedule and #s of drinks you have. You have to learn to drink responsibly, so if youre going to do this, be sure to NEVER drink alone, or with your usual drinking buddies. Be honest with your charting, too. If you wake up with a hangover and call into work, then you have fallen off the wagon, but dont worry, cause you can always get back on there, and try try again.
For some people, the only way to fix their lives is to abstain from drinking 100%, in other words, dont drink ANYTHING, ever again. I personally dont totally agree with this, but I think its important to do this for at least a couple of weeks, to help detox.

Also, alcohol contributes to domestic violence, so it is VERY important that you ask your family and friends if they think you are difficult to be around when you are drinking. Only ask them ths when you are sober, of course.
=)
Good luck to you. I have faith that you will achieve great things.

It's not how many u drink. An alcoholic is someone who "needs" the beer. You may have 2 a day, get buzzed, and when u come down, u "need" 2 more. Soon, you will need 3, then 4, and so on.

Its not the number, but rather the inability to stop even in the face of serious alcohol related effects. If alcohol is causing your family and friends to be upset with you or interfering with school or a job, it is a problem. If alcohol is how you reward yourself for getting through a hard day or how you relax enough to face your daily like, you may have a problem.

You don't even drink alcohol every day to be an alcoholic. I have uncles who are weekend alcoholics, never drinking on a workday. It's more of the fact you HAVE to have a drink or can't drink just one.

If you are getting drunk or tipsy daily, then you are an alcoholic.. to answer quantitatively, if you are drinking more than two daily (three will make you tipsy sometimes), then you are an alcoholic!
