It's not only in your mind - as some less-than-droll boob tried to say. Apparently they can't do things like read, or research.

Here's how they're connected:

Rumsfeld was CEO of Searle Labrotories at the time that aspertame came up for FDA review. Initially, the FDA was not going to pass aspertame (which is classified as a drug - not a sweetener). Aspertame releases free methyl alcohol in the human system and results in addiction.

However, Rumsfeld was able to "call in his markers" to get aspertame approved. Many doctors feel this decision was against consumer health protection.

Aspertame can actually lead to alcoholism - especially when it is combined with alcohol (rum & diet is an example). It interacts negatively with alcohol, many anti-depressants, MSG. It may also increase the risk of brain tumors.
