Buffy was originally a movie befiore a TV series.
I think if a TV show was to be made into a successful movie it might be "Absolutley Fabulous" It would be hysterical and plenty of material to work with , wouldn't be confined to a 30min or 1hr like most TV shows.
Gilligans Island could work.
I saw Miami Vice in a test audience a couple months ago and enjoyed it...but alos enjoyed Mission Impossible although vaguely related to the TV show except for Mr Phelps.

Some television shows probably should be made into a movie, but there really aren't that many good shows to choose from. I do think it would be neat if the final episode of Lost was made into a full-length movie so that all of its loyal fans could see on the big screen what the truth is about the island and everything that has gone on the past couple of years. As for the best tv-to-big screen movie I've seen, I would have to say Starsky & Hutch, because it was goofy & funny-- and I loved Snoop as Huggy Bear!!

I think the only tv shows that would end up being good movies is Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Sex in the City. Usually its movies that get made into tv shows.

Some tv shows, like South Park for example. Very good movie.

Then only TV show that I know that was made into a movie and was any good at all was Firefly which became Serenity. It was incredible. I loved the TV show and the movie. The film was viewable by itself, and the TV show acted as backstory. Fantastic. If you haven't seen it go get it now, it's that good. River's martial arts are excellent.
