I gave a bum 5 bucks to get something to eat. instead of getting something to eat he went to the liqour store and bought a qt of mad dog 20/20 wine.Should i give this bum the beating of his life? or should i just drag himto the nearest A.A meeting and drop him off

I applaud you for your good deed. NO good deed goes unnoticed. What he did with the money however is another story, Once you give somebody something, legally it is theirs to do whatever they want with it. It might not be what you approved of but just maybe that little bottle gave him the courage to live another day. We do not all live such lives of luxury and we do not have the right to judge. He might be a bum but first he is a person. You must of realized that or you wouldn't of been so kind.

You never know why, when or how you are being tested. Despite his choice of nourishment, in essence you fed him the milk of Human kindness. The evidence that there is goodness that would not deride or punish him.

Well, did you realy expect that he would do what you asked? That is why he is on the street. Maybe next time you could give that money to either a church or local charity as they have better ways of helping the homeless. And then when you pass by one of these people, you can tell them you donated to xyz and they can go there if they want help. I'm sorry, but you learned a good lesson....God bless your good intentions! ;-)

neither, next time buy another bum a burger instead of handing over cash . the beating will get you jailed, the dropping him off an an AA meeting wont do any good either. he wont go in .. chalk it up to "thats life" and dont be so hostile there are more important things to be upset to that degree over.

Why would you want to do anything? The 5 dollars didn't mean that much to you in the first place since you just gave it away. Anyways, you shouldn't give your money away. If you really want to help give it to a shelter or give the man some food.

Just don't give him any more money, or any other bum for that matter. Just buy a bunch of boxes of twinkies and toss a couple to each bum you pass instead of tossing them money.

I usually give a homeless person food rather than money, because chances are they will either blow it on booze or drugs. Don't feel bad or taken advantage of, your heart was in the right place, you just wanted to help out someone who was less fortunate.

give money to bums and others without the expectation of them doing what they say or returning it....bottom line don't give away anything your are not willing to lose forever. give with the right heart and next time buy the meal for the bum then he can't spend it on liquor.

Don't do anything...just learn your lesson. When I see a bum that really looks needy...I buy him a meal from the closest fast food place and drop it off to him.
