as quite few people have already pointed out it seems that you have quite a virus running around inside your system. I strong recommend that you seriously think about the apps that you want on your system then remove the others . once you have done this.Things like defrag etc and apps patch's should be downloaded from all the sites etc that you get yours from. But also concentrate on virus's adware, malware and of of course Internet security ie a good fire wall and get it patched.

After you have done all of the above keep on top on patching your major apps and downloading virus signatures - no these are no virus - just a description to the anti -virus software as what to look for when checking for virus's.

if you are still not happy with the speed of your system have you considered that maybe you might need a part(s) upgrade.

More memory is always a good one to choose. Or maybe a better hard disk. You never did mention what you were doing when you said that you system seems slow.

u can try to download pop swatter. just go to http://www.popswatter.com/ .... this would be installed on IE. u can also try to downlaod mozilla as it has a built in pop up catcher. if ur PC is still running slow even if the pop ups are gone. try to run a free on line scan. usually, pop ups are symptoms of a spyware or adaware on ur PC. it would be best to have a scan as early as possible. hope this helps..

If you are running XP i suggest you go to control panel , click administrative tools, double click services , in the list of programs etc find MESSENGER , double click again , click stop and then change the start-up type field to disabled , try this first before reformatting pc.

You have a virus/spyware/adware problem.

Free programs no person should be without:

AVG anti-virus (the best anti-virus out) - http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-free
Spybot Search and Destroy (gets rid of all spyware) - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/
Ccleaner (cleans old files and corrects registry problems) - http://www.ccleaner.com/download/
Lavasoft Ad-aware (gets rid of nasty adware) - http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Go into START - All programmes - go onto accessories then to sytem tools. Then scroll down to disc defragmenter and select.
It will take a while to do but is well worth it and will speed up your pc.
Good luck
