Having a top defensive pairing of Niedemayer (Scott not Rob by the way) and Chris Pronger is a 1-2 punch like no other. The ducks also have some great young players mixed with some veterans. And the competition for the starting goaltending could be another bright spot as they will both be playing their best. I think they could be a top team in their division... but as we saw this year, any team can win the cup...So i'd say they have a decent chance but i doubt they'll win it all, poor ice conditions in June will hurt their chances..

Absolutely they have a chance. They now have the best tandem on D in the league with Niedermayer and Pronger. Once they move Giguere they will have the money to add to a great young and fast line-up. There biggest struggle is that they'll be in the toughest division in hockey, so they might not be a contender for the President's trophy, but I would say they are no less than 1/30 for winning it all. IMHO

I think they have an excellent chance to win the Cup next season. Look at all the experience their young players gained in the playoffs this past season. Guys like Getzlaff, Penner, Perry, McDonald, and Kunitz for example. Plus to add a guy like Chris Pronger to play alongside Scott Niedermayer. They definitely have a chance.

It will all depend on their performance during the playoffs, I am a Predators fan, however The ducks have a strong chance, if they retain all of their key players from last season, By picking up Pronger that might be enough to win it though.

Yeah, I think they have a pretty good chance. They will probably have the best defensive unit in the league with Niedermayer and Pronger. They had to give up Lupul but I think they will be a better overall team than last year. Pronger's experience will certainly help in the playoffs.

As to vote casting, i don't think of everyone ought to vote in this question- leave it as a tiebreaker perpetually. Your understanding and experience of humour will be ignored. sturdy success sir.

Not really. If you look at playoff history, the teams that lose in the Final and Semi-Finals tend to do worse the following season.

Long-term maybe as they have had a couple of great runs and do have solid netminding.

I don't think they have enough quality forwards to make it all the way. The defense and goaltending is good with Bryzgalov but in the new NHL you better have some scoring up front or guys that can draw penalties. Selanne is not enough!

Unfortunately yes. They have a great chance but I still think they'll have to wait another year. I don't know who will win but I just don't see them doing it next year. They need a more solid goalie, Bryzgalov is a joke and I have no faith in Giguere.
