For the same reason "pop" is an onomatopoetic monosyllabic palindrome. Or the word "obfuscation" is confusing. Or that we drive in a parkway but park in a driveway. Or if we take accurate notes during a pagan ritual, we would write right about the rite. Or how about "they're going there to get their hair cut."?
