First off let me say that global warming is an easy excuse to the problem of earth's warming trend. It is an easy answer to the non-scientist or someone who only want to think in one dimension. But the truth of the matter is that humans are not the cause of global warming. Now it is an excited topic and some scientists are jumping on the bandwagon because there is a lot of money funded towards research so the more eveidence you find towards global warming the longer you keep your research project.
There is no way to stop global warming. The earth is warming because we are in the middle of the next ice age. You may ask, if we are in the middle of an ice age, why are things getting warm. This is because the earth is 4.6 Billion years old, and the earth has been going through cycles from day one. The first law of physics is that for every action there is an equal but opposite action. Applying this to the earth means that while the earth is warming now, thousands of years from now it will be covered in ice. This happens because as the earth warms, it will melt ice causing a global sea level rise, this will cover low-lying areas close to the coasts. To make this short, the opposite reaction will be millions of years of ice.
This may be a harder concept to grasp than what is suggested by many non-scientist who promote this human-impacted global warming trend. The fact is that humans have only been developed for a maximum of 200 years, by developed i mean industial age, which is responsible for atmospheric pollution. The earth is 4.6 Billion Years old and has been going through cycles since its existince. So to answer your question, humans are not the main cause for global warming, and yes humans may increase the speed of which the cycle occurs, but it was going to happen any way. please respond with any more concerns or for a more detailed answer. Remember i say an ice age is coming, but everything happens over long time periods, but short in terms of the earth. So we have thousands of years before any of this actually happens, but expect continuing rising temperatures for the duration of your lifetime.

This is to clarify what QFL blah blah said about CO2 and blah blah. Where is your evidence that it is happening faster than any previous time period? Rock records, dont think so, sea level rise scarpes off massive layers of sediment, thus eliminating some previous record, thus creating many unconformities which are present during active cycle phases. Once again, i will say that pollution doesnt help the problem, but it is not the cause.

The fact is that the earth is too complex to have all the answers. We havent been to the deepest parts of the oceans or the farthest stretch of the universe, and evidently we still have a lot to learn about our planet. That is why i am a research scientist, because i was tired of just hanging around while politicians and other non-scientist told lies to the population.

Yes the earth is experiencing a warming trend but there is no scientific proof whatsoever that is man made. The earth changes in temperature we already know all this It is not a mystery. There is a political agenda behind this and the fact that al gore is leading the way proves it - this monkey has no credibility anywhere except his own mind a communist backed media complex who help him. You should read up on gore as well as the warming trend - as for all the weather patterns mentioned in your question these may or may not be increased or exacerbated by a warming trend. I have never read anything
that would convince me of this. Volcanic activity is extremely high right now and that emits alot of the gases into the atmosphere which "COULD" be causing th warming trend - no one really knows for certain THIS INCLUDES THAT COMMUNIST GORE!!He is selling a premise using fear
and democrats generally are fearful of this life. They want free health care an easy job etc. So this global warming is a way of telling their betters how to run their lives.

CO2 is 30% higher than it has been for 650,000 years. Methane is 130% greater. These are two of the main pollutants humans put into the atmosphere in excess, and they are two of the primary greenhouse gases. Excess of these gases have shown over and over that the earth warms. This is scientific fact, anyone who would tell you differently is to fond of their SUV or in the pocket of Big Energy.

Look at the 'hockeystick', which shows a dramatic warming since 1950 after a fairly stable climate for 1000 years. In fact, the 10 hottest years in recorded history have all happened since 1990, with 2005 being the hottest, and 2006 is shaping up to maybe break that record.
(see links below)

How's that for proof of man's fault in this? There is ample proof, any real scientist will tell you that.

There has NEVER been an article doubting man's influence on global warming published in a peer-reviewed journal. A recent study of almost 1000 proved that.

Yes, the earth naturally heats and cools, but the rate and amount we are warming now is unprecedented in the recent geologic past. We are doing this, and we must stop it. This is not some political statement or rhetoric. This is science trying to educate a crass, ignorant public of the damage they are doing. The magnitude of temperature increase ALREADY is about 10x that of the 'little ice age' of the middle ages, and rate and amount are only going up.

Just to be clear, glacial and interglacial cycles are mainly controlled by astronomical fluctuations, but we have a detailed record of the last 7 cycles, and what the climate and CO2 is doing now is way different and extreme. The rate of increase is much higher than in the past AND the value itself is much higher.

Yes, we are in an inter-glacial period. Never before in the earth's history have there been ice caps at both poles. They have expanded during the ice ages and disappeared completely. CO2 levels have been much higher, they've also been much lower. Global temperatures have also been very much hotter, and very much cooler. Environments change.

We've only been able to accurately measure temperature for about the last 100 years. Extremely hard to see trends.

Take a close look at the "hockey stick" graph. It shows a small rise in temperature at the end, but then an extreme straight line extrapolation into the future. Hardly evidence for an extreme change.

Yes, man has had an influence on his environment, but is it enough to affect overall natural global change? The jury will be out for a long time.........

Global warming is happening because humans have altered the composition of the atmosphere by burning huge amounts of fossil fuels.

there are several reasons for floods, hurricanes, tornado etc.
but as far as global warming is concerned, because of high industrialization and poorer methods to check pollution we are sending green house gases(carbon di oxide, methane etc.) in to atmosphere. these gases let heat rays from sun to enter in atmosphere and reach to earth surface but don't let heat to radiate out to space back, this results in increase in temperature of earth which can result to melting of glaciers, flooding and submerging of small islands in oceans.

global warming is caused due to the increase in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere which is caused due to increased pollution by vehicles.
CO2 abosorbs heat from the sun light and does not liberate it, eventually heating the earth and causing global warming.
