This is pathetic! look at all of the wrong answers here! some of these are way off including the "best answer". The only reasonable answer here simply says to google 8mm in inches which is obviously what the asker should have done in the first place instead of asking the people on this site. typing that into google quickly spits out an answer of .275591 or a tiny bit more than .25 or 1/4 of an inch. This site sucks.

Type "8mm in in" into google search bar without the quotation marks
Works for just about everything, Celsius into Fahrenheit, currency, acres into sq inches, volumes etc!
