SBCGlobal is basically Yahoo! DSL configuring, just put a different way. Some SBCGlobal people don't have Yahoo! Messenger, or your version of Messenger needs to be updated. Hopefully that helps you. Also, you need to type soandso@sbcglobal.net as their username or something like that. I have many SBCGlobal people on my list, and I know their username plus the @sbcglobal.net part. Try that to send messages to your SBC friends.

Because they are on a different system then you. Since Yahoo e-mail and messenger is free, just have them create a Yahoo ID and then messenger each other with it.

u can message someone with an sbcglobal an u have yahoo....i do it all tha time....that is how i talk to some of my friends.....as long as u know their screen name ur good to go....u can send me a message if u would like......lol

well just like Canadians hate Americans, yahoo hates hotmail or any other service. and sBCGlobal is one of them. as simple as that!
