It makes the person using it look like a weak fool.

It's rather like being labelled an anti-feminist if you point out how many women irresponsiblly keep having children they can't support. It doesn't mean they're not being irresponsible. But, for the sake of the feminist movement, many feminists prefer to see women labelled as victims.

Because the Holocaust happened, and despite the fact that some of the Holocaust survivors have gone on record as disagreeing with Israel's treatment of Palestine, many people believe Israel can do no wrong. Actually, Israel is guilty of hating and persecuting Palestine as much as the opposite is true. But, mired in the memory of the Nazi concentration camps, the world is very hesitant to criticize.

In truth, whether you are talking about governments or individuals, they should be judged on the merits, or lack thereof, of their actions. Labelling any human as bad or good for ethnic or religious reasons is a mistake. If you're not doing that, ignore those who accuse you of antisemitism. You know better.

I bet that you are going to be called an anti-semite for asking that question, but you make a valid and true point

Ok, here begins my rant.

First off, terroristic actions comitted by Israel or by an Israeli citizen (im only going to mention a few): in 1946, Israeli terrorists bombed a hotel, killing 91 Christians and Jews. In 1967, Israeli troops slaughtered several hundred Egyptian prisoners of war. In the 1980s (1982, i believe) Ariel Sharon, future prime minister of Israel ordered the massacre of 2 Palestinian refugee camps. In 1995, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated by Yighal Amir, because his actions made peace seem like a possibility. Recent years, Israel makes no effort to reduce civilian casualites in their conflicts, resulting in hundreds dead for no other reason than where they live.

I by no means support the actions of the PLO, Hezbollah, or any terrorist organization. Im just pointing out that too many people ignore the history of Israel. Also, since it is a religious state, any criticism against it is considered by the Jewish people to be a verbal assualt on their religion. Unfortunately, this makes objectivity hard to achieve whenever debating the middle east.

Hope I helped

Lets try to make it easy: Can you accept the state of Israel as a fact?...(we can't change history)..If you agree that Israel is a nation with the right , as all other nations, to exist then why prevent them from protecting themselves?...For all the years of that nation's existence it has had to fight for survival. You may choose to call "criminal" some acts of self defense by Israel..But since when has war spared innocent lives? If you can't see that you're holding Israel to an unreachable, high standard of war then you're an anti-Semite because you're saying that Israel is the only nation that can't defend itself. Or Israel can't attack in self-defense unless it Knows the EXACT spider-hole where the enemy is hiding (for fear on collateral damage.)
Maybe some folks should just say it: "I hate Jews!"
I'm of Cuban heritage so I have no hidden agenda in writing this, other than to say: " I like those Jew-boys, they got balls!"

This is a clever disarming tactic for Israel to throw out whenever they are criticized. The course Israel is on needs to be criticized because they are now the aggressor. It would be more effective though to just criticise the actions rather than starting to rant about Jews.

Do you mean Israel's defending itself against terrorists? I do not care who Kofi Anan is married to he is wrong here. Hezbollah deliberately hides among innocents - this is why there are so many civilian deaths.

What criminal activity are you referring to? Attacking a terrorist group that crossed into Israeli territory and kidnapped soldiers or attacking a terrorist group that sends rockets into civilian targets?

Remember, this is the same terrorist group that was dancing in the streets following the carnage of 9/11.

because after 1946 every one is supposed to love the Jews, and hold them above criticism since they suffered so much. It may just be me, but, I think there get out of jail free card from WWII should be revoked, they suffered a lot 60 plus years ago, and they have caused much suffering since then, lets get past the holocaust, and hold them accountable for there actions.

When you criticize them for activity that is not criminal, you are an antisemite that sides with your fellow rag head, pedophile worshipping pigs that want to wipe Israel off the map....their words.

Because most of the time people accuse Israel of crimes they did not commit. Which means the accuser is either retarded, or an anti-semite.

Your answer was in your question. You have determined, without opportunity for argument or dispute, that Israel's actions are criminal. Such an attitude is what gains you such responces.
