Pens fit easier into purses than doors do

As with all businesses - a bank has to weigh
security vs. customer "welcomeness" and perhaps
indoor temperature.

People will walk off with small things that they don't
own - sometimes because they are stealing and
sometimes because they don't think about it.
There is no downside from the customer's point
of view to have the pens attached to something
so its an obvious choice for the bank.

However, closing the doors sets the tone of
the bank to less welcome and therefore costs
them business. They'll do all they can to both
keep themselves secure (armed guards) and
be welcoming as well.

i dont know why but i've always wanted to super glue the locks on a bank shut so that when the manager comes in he cant get in then no one could use the bank FOR HOURS. I also have this social experiment i wann do where i drop trou in the middle of the bank and take a huge sh*t on the floor. i dont know it could be fun and educational?

Pen's are easy to carry away, but a 3-foot-thick steal door protecting the vault isn't.

Because they do not want to have to replace pens every few hours, and have people approach the teller's window and ask, do you have a pen?

1. to avoid ppl like me who uses a pen and unconsciously puts them in my purse.

2. to avoid always having to refill pens on desks for customers.

Because the pens are vicious, and if they get loose, they could bite someone and the bank could get sued for millions.
