People that study orientation distinguish between your sexual behaviors and your attraction (mental/emotional aspects). You are generally considered bi if you are either having encounters w/both sexes, by choice, over extended time, OR are only with one sex but desire the same sex for an extended time. If it feels like a phase, maybe it is; that would mean you wonder what it's like but you don't really feel any attraction to the same sex. Similarly, if you had limited same sex encounter(s) but didn't get much out of it, that's just called being curious and experimental.

Bottom line is your thoughts and feelings must be involved, even if they are milder than for the opposite sex. Dreams and fantasies are a good clue too.

Women on women sex is a natural part of female heterosexuality. Almost all women leave this in the realm of fantasy (also, almost ALL women have those fantasies). Indulging in the reality of that is something you do with a man.

Being bisexual is when you seek out a woman for RELATIONSHIPS...which is a completely different thing. This is more a lesbian sort of situation where the woman rejects normal relationships to a degree. Women who are outright lesbians tend to hate men. If these elements are present, this is how you know you are a bisexual or lesbian, as opposed to a normal heterosexual woman.
