Virden is a very small agricultural and oil producing community with a population of approximately 3,000. It's located at the junction of Hwy #1 and Hwy# 83, 77km west of Brandon, Manitoba and 100 km north of the Canada/US border. Virden's claim to fame are the following famous people:
Dr. Ballard ( of dog food fame) used to be the local vet in Virden.
The world famous wildlife artist Terry McLean lives in Virden.
The jukebox was invented by Dave Rockola in Virden.
The one thing I know about Virden from visiting there is it's frigid cold in the winter and very hot and dry in the summer.
The following website will give you a little more information on the town.
