The first time we sealed our paver patio we used 'sweeping sand' to fill in the cracks, blew it off, and rolled the sealer on with a roller. This drug the sand out of the cracks and sealed it onto the surface of the bricks. We have tried power wahsing, but that also removes the top color layer of the brick leaving a black area.

You sealed the brick, wonders why.
The best advice I could possibly give you is to wait and let nature take its course and remove the sealer and sand for you. Most people I know that can afford a brick paver driveway can also afford a car that doesn't leak fluids. If it's not a driveway that you sealed then don't reseal it. There is no need unless you plan to cut chicken on it and then eat off it.

You could try a floor sander like you rent for refinishing wood floors. The next time you seal it use a sprayer such as the type you pump up to spray weeds
