Well for me as a Hindu,(forget all the bs crammed down your throat by uninformed well-intentioned teachers and scholars), we think that a system to guide ones life should not have any sort of negative affect on someone else, this doesn't mean you must work to help others too, but it means deliberatly harming someone in an wanton manner, is not kosher, or halal,(forgive the puns). So in Hinduism, there really isn't ever conflict.

If you are asking what is more important to me, a human or my religion, I'd have to go with a human, my husband. He's my reason for waking up each morning.

Human is more important because man created religions.

Your question is based on specious assumptions. There is an assumed contradiction where none exist. This reflects your lack of understanding of both terms involved. Perhaps with some more time to learn about both 'religion' and 'humanity' you will evolve into someone more aware.

equal, if not religion.
religion is a belief, specifically pertaining to god and his relationship with humans. Such belief fundamentally transcends or covers my view of humans including responsibilities and worth and other values. If a religion says women are to be inferior to men, I would however question the religion rather than blindly following it even though I am a man. God treats us very dearly and hold us to be of great importance (our souls) But nothing exceeds God, neither are humans. In principle God is more important than any human even myself. But in truth and practicality he wants us to respect all humans as we do himself (made in his image) or how we like to be treated (golden rule) Our bodies are perishable, and our lusts/desires will pass. This belief should not be used to belittle humans under the name religion(belief). In short, religion/belief is more important than my fellow humans but there are times/places where exceptions exist. God has forgiven our violation of his rules for the sake of love. But this is not to say, we can abuse the words religion or love to achieve our inner selfish needs/impulses/desires/ambitions. Philosophy is fun, but it is imperfect and to be absolutely sure, we need a better way of dealing with things.

Religion was created to serve humanity.

obey and live, or sway and die...i think humans are being too underrated...the fact that there are endless questions about the teachings of religion and the fact that their answers only produce more questions is reason enough for me to disbelieve...i'm siding with humans...we're too intelligent to be left with only two choices...there's more to life than just being saved or not...everyone knows it...everyone feels it.
