Is it because conservatives drew it up? That’s a lame excuse.

The only people who really should fear fair tax are those who work for places like H&R Block, or lobbyists who are paid to tweak the tax code for big business. That’s it.

Please. Take the time to check this out and join a revolution.
The current tax code wont even fit in the room you sit in. the fair tax book fits in your hand.

I see none who supports the oposition understands fair tax.

It’s not a flat tax. It’s a consumption tax. A national sales tax of 23%. Here’s so fact to consider before you answer.

Under fair tax,

No more withheld tax. That means what you earn is what you get. That includes ss and Medicare.

National sales tax is 23%

Embedded tax (inflation of the cost of products sold in the US due to our current tax code is 22%. that means 22 of every 100 dollars you spend is covering the taxes of retailers, production, acquisitions.)Is removed from the cost of products.

Currently 500 billion dollars a year is spent by the public just to comply with the tax code as is. (Such as what you pay to have H&R block do your taxes.)

11 trillion dollars- this is how much of our money is in off shore accounts to escape our tax code. Fair tax brings it home.

Everyone get a monthly rebate check for the things they need. Like soap, tampons, whathaveyou.

If you havn't learned yet bro, Democrats are idiots. If you let them take full control of anything they would turn it to ****.

Truthfully, it is because the Dems want a financially equal society. They seek to lessen the gap between the haves and have-nots. The only way they can do this is to put all the financial burden of the lower classes onto the shoulders of the upper classes...therefore making less the difference between them.

From the Dems point of view, which i kinda agree with, look at the following example.

John make $50k a year and Joe makes $250k a year. With a flat or fair tax rate of lets say 20%, John is left with $40k to live on where Joe is left with $200k. Although they pay the same percentage, and Joe is paying more in total tax, Joe is still left with more than enough to support the average family. John on the other hand, depending on where he lives, will live paycheck to paycheck and struggle by to make ends meet. The Dems seek to lessen that gap, making it possible for John to keep more of his money because Joe can aford to cover some of John's burden.

This may all be completely contrary to capitalism and more akin to Communism, but that all depends on what side of the equation you are on. If you are Joe, you are pissed off at having to pay for John. If you are John, you are glad that Joe covers part of your burden.

If you mean by "fair tax" a flat tax, then the reason should be obvious to anyone. A flat tax to one with just enough income make ends meet is basically a sales tax since they pay tax on all they earn. If you think that is fair then you are definately not a "compassionate conservative" or don't understand the meaning of compassion.

Democrats are on to the ignorance of others,, pay your own taxes, and stop worrying about those Conservatives who have tax exempt status, or the Liberals who make up most of the hard working middle class...... vote for your candidate of choice and let the chips fall where they may.....

just because one is moving forward doesn't mean they are making progress, they may be facing the wrong way. Simplicity is not always simpler and change is not always for the better. the demos realize the current tax code is bad, they just don't agree that this is a valid solution.

They are not for it because they won't be able to constantly raise taxes. They also voted against reducing the capital gaines tax, and if their is a flat tax they won't be able to tax the middle class and the rich, which they love to do.

Umm I don't know why they oppose it. I would be all for doing away with the current tax code it is confusing. I think there should be no loop holes no exemptions and no exceptions.

The democrats are against it becasue they would have to pay taxes. There are no loopholes for them to get around the tax.
