Here's what's going on at the Georgia Institute of Technology, commonly known as Georgia Tech:

Gay Yellow Jackets (the official campus gay group) and their allies have started a campus group condemning a student who happens to be Asian and female.

They have sent emails to her (from Georgia Tech addresses) saying things like “***** I want to choke you.”

Some have expressed a desire to throw acid in her face.

They have posted pictures of her adorned with swastikas on the internet.

They have also passed out posters in dorms calling her a “Twinkie *****” – this to suggest that she is Asian on the outside and Caucasian on the inside.

In other words, these people are more than just dumb and emotionally unstable. They are also intolerant and racist, not to mention violent.

I've also received many PMs from some of you, similar in language and tone to the above.

What gives?

Her crime: she belongs to the Georgia Tech College Republicans, and all she wanted was for her group to receive the same amount of funding from the university that the gay group gets. She's part of a lawsuit seeking to make that happen.

That's unfortunate that it's happened but the actions of a few don't mean that all people share the same views. Just becuase some gays are prejudiced doesn't mean all of us are. For example, rarely are lesbians mysoginists while these people seem to be. There are also many queers who come from variouis minority groups. I know black, hispanic, asian, christian, jewish, male, female, and white queers. People are different.

As I suspected, when I googled the piece of news I found nothing. I'm not going to say SOMETHING isn;t happening, but I will certainly not take your word for it as I've seen the hatred you spew and ignorance of your assumptions and generalizations.

If a situation like the one you described DID occur, I would have to say that particular group is wrong for what they are doing. That does not define all homosexuals. Just like Fred Phelps and his followers do not define all baptists. Nor does Hitler accurately represent all Germans. Statements like that are gross over-generalizations that make it easier for someone to insult, degrade or otherwise debase an entire group of people.

How would you feel if I said all Black woman are all AIDS infested crack heads? Not a very true statement is it. But the fact is that that black women DO have the highest population of HIV positive with in it's social group. But that does not mean that ALL black women do.

I find it ironic when people of minority groups such as yourself forget that just 50-60 years ago, YOU could not marry a white person, prior to that YOU could not marry at all. And YOU had no rights whatsoever. The EXACT SAME arguements were used then that are used now...religon.

If you ever stopped to think about the things you were saying, and how so many racist people said them 50 years ago about Black Americans, you might stop to reconsder it. Until then..Peace, love and May God Bless You and help you see the truth.

Why do you begin your question by making a terrible generalization about 5 million Americans based on what a few have done. And why don't you mention what the Asian girl has done? It's unlikely that she was randomly chosen. It is quite likely that she has ascribed to and been public in some sort of anti-gay stance. That doesn't excuse threats of violence, but it does explain anger and makes the use of Swastikas politically viable (although personally, I think that's a bit over the top).

Also, I find it funny that I can't find a single reference to it that isn't on some community forum. Was this issue not covered by a single newspaper? If that's the case, then this all sounds like right-wing propaganda.

I am sorry but I don't know the details of the Georgia tech situation but I can say many liberals are unhinged. I think it probably has more to do with their political affiliations than it does with the fact that they are gay. But it is impossible to generalize about this group as they are on a predominately liberal campus, also they are young so it could be that their frontal lobes are not sufficiently developed to make good judgments.

I do not PM people unless they PM me first and I always try to match their tone. You are generally civil in your questions so I try to be that way to you.

I actually enjoy your questions because you may hate us but at least you don't usually openly insult us individually.

Unfortunately you do not always receive the same courtesy from us.

If you guys would take the time to sort out the first 4 word of the question you would know she say "Why are SO MANY" not ALL gays hostile. and to answer the question, I just think they feel rejected because most people arnt gay, or dont like to be around gays for fear of being assumed gay. I personally dont have a problem with gay people, just dont act gay towards me and dont get mad if you make a pass at me and I decline. I used to work at a store and some gays would come it there from time to time and I almost got fired behind them because they kept messing with me when they knew i wasnt gay and I was so close to knockin them straight. One time the manager was standing right there and he just looked at me like "go ahead and hit him" but I didnt because that would have stired up a whole big argument, then we would have probably had a gay rally right out in the parkin lot or something.

Julia, I'm not gay but would like to answer your question. You must remember that there are people like that on both sides. It might appear to you that the are many perhaps because of the ratio in comparison to us. As a group they are smaller than the straight community. The point is that sexual orientation has nothing to do with violence or hatred, and I would believe racism least of all.

I'm generalising here, but the thing is that most gays or lesbians adopt this racist behaviour because they have been treated the same way. It's a natural response.

Because of the well known reaction that society has to homosexuality, even though they haven't had to confront with racist behaviour, some of them adopt this behaviour 'in advance' and use it with anyone. It's a premature defense, but a firm one. They constantly feel threatend, so they act according to this state. It's natural, like I said.

Julia, I know I'm probably wasting my time by even answering your question (because it really is kinda stupid), but are you really that silly? I've seen your questions you ask and all you do it try to belittle people that are gay. So, the e mails you receive are most likely justified. As for the Georgia Tech incident I'm not sure. All I know is that you're just tryin' to stir up trouble for gay people. Get off Yahoo! Answers and go to work....or bed.

Why are you generalizing an entire group based on the actions of a few? Isn't this the very definition of prejudice and stereotyping?

I certainly don't condemn all Christians based on your bigoted, discriminatory questions and answers. Many are good people who get shouted down here by the hate-filled vocal minority.

Why don't you try peace, love, justice and understanding for a change? WWJD?

It begs the question, did this female Asian student say or do anything which may have merited some form of redress (if not to the extent to which you say it has been offered)?

Your reportage reads truly dreadful and their actions unconchonable, but there does seem to be a lot of "space" between their loosely reported actions and your conclusions.

Could you perhaps provide us with some background?
