There are many reasons people end-up in the streets. One of the big reasons I think is the inability to be content with what they are. For example the person that does not want to conform to society, may start off bad mouthing his job, his station in life, and eventually moving on to believing that society itself is against them. Rather then see where they can improve or be satisfied with where they are, they continue on a downward spiral that ultimately results in them shunning society altogether. Another reason I think is the inability to cope with life, expectations and the ability to accept failure. The expectation family or friends may have might be too overwhelming and rather then try and accept the results of their abilities, they chose not to try at all. One other reason might be laziness it is easier to meander from day to day then to have responsibilities. They sleep where they can eat what they can and do what they want. There don’t have anything, no sofa, T.V. home, car, or anything else that might force them to have any type of responsibility so it is easier to be homeless. I must interject here; I am not suggesting that all homeless people fall into these categories. There are those who are indeed not capable of holding down a job or having responsibilities. With that said I think there is a great majority of homeless individuals that are homeless not because it was the only choice, but rather it was the easy choice.

I could make jokes, but this is serious, Not just in Vegas. Most of these people have extreme medical conditions; Depression; Schizophrenia, Physical And physiological conditions, Lost hope. No Family to save them and a Government that cares more of wasting BILLIONS of monies for the ego of a coward and deserter in the current White House cesspool administration. Why are our kids being gunned down in Compton, Ca's DEAD ZONE When we fly-in conjoined twins from Iraq-Nam and spend 1 million or more to help them ??????

I would have to say that in all fairness they do work for themselves. When they ask for money what percentage of people give them their change or even a dollar? especially in Vegas. You've got people winning money all they time easy targets they come out their happy to have either broke even or came out ahead so why not share the wealth & give it to the person asking for some change. If you figure they stand/sit outside 100 people pass them by & 100 people give them money shot 100 people at $1.00 each he/she just made $100.00 simple. Then they may or maynot go eat & gamble because their in Vegas & they may come out a winner. Its a vicious cycle.

Who WANTS to work?? Especially when you KNOW you're being exploited, all your work getting squeezed from you so the boss can afford his Hummer SUV.

There aren't jobs for everyone.
And the lowest paying jobs won't even make
you independant of social nets.

So many people work 14 hour days just to eat and fall asleep to start all over again.

What's the point of that?
respect? clean clothes?

I respect homeless people more-- though the majority aren't protesting bottom-feeder labor. They're insanely oppressed.

I always wonder how they got into that situation in the first place and why they are too proud to work in a place like McDonalds or the mall. Any amount of money is better than none, right?

Many "bums" suffer from untreated mental illnesses or drug or alcohol addictions. Others find street life enjoyable or think they have no other alternative. Either way, help is almost always available to the indigent. I pray that they accept it. May God bless and keep you.

Some are mentally ill, some have addiction problems, some have no job skills, some can't read. Homelessness is a symptom of many problems, If we would work on these problems the homelessness would take care of itself.

Our country has alot of homeless, many are families not just druggies or drunks and many are vets who have served our country but the government cares so little that they are left out there. No one wants poverty and homelessness but for some it a cruel reality. If you lose your job and cant find another quick enough and you dont pay your rent guess where you are?....homeless.

Who says they do not? If you are talking about a homeless most jobs require an address and probably would not hire someone just off the street.
