From http://www.larouchepub.com/other/2006/3329isr_palestine_war.html
Netanyahu came back from his meeting on the weekend of June 17-18 with Cheney at Beaver Creek, and announced that Israel must reject any form of negotiations with the Palestinians, and instead reassert its military "deterrence."
Hezbollah members did not cross into Israeli territory to "kidnap" two Israeli soldiers, as the media spin claims. The captured Israeli soldiers were part of a group patrolling inside Lebanese territory. Like the capture of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, their capture became a pretext to launch a large military operation against Hezbollah.

It looks to me that the US wants to provoke Iran into conflict by having Israel poke thier stick into Lebanon's eye. Why is the US response to Israels obvious over-reaction so muted? Like Newt Gingritch said, World War 3 has already started. Just watch what is going to happen! We havent seen anything yet!

The crisis did not truly begin with the capture of two Israeli soldiers (Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev) by Hezbollah's Operation True Promise in the Sha'ba Farms area (claimed by both Lebanon and Israel.) The kidnappings presented a serious problem for Israel, but could not, by themselves, define the geopolitical issue. That definition came when Hezbollah rockets struck Haifa, Israel's third-largest city, on July 13. There were also claims coming from Hezbollah, and confirmed by Israeli officials, that Hezbollah had missiles available that could reach Tel Aviv. Israel's population is concentrated in the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem corridor and in the Tel Aviv-Haifa corridor. In effect, Hezbollah had attained the ability to strike at the Israeli heartland.
War is costly in terms of life and property. This conflict is not an excuse to start a war with Iran.

You're begging the question. Israeli troops were captured, and the only logical response is invasion to get their troops back. It's not a pretense, and framing your question in this way betrays your lack of understanding of the situation (and the challenges faced by democratic governments from Islamist regimes and terrorists).
As for the Israeli's needing a "political excuse" to go to war with Iran, what makes you think that's what they're doing? If anything, I think Israel is simply flexing their muscles to show that they will not be pushed around by armed thugs and will do what they have to to protect their sovereignty and their people. In that sense, they are completely in the right to invade Lebanon and destroy Hezbollah.

Well, Hezbollah started a war with Israel because Iran told them too. This would divert the world's (and more importantly the G-8 summit's) attention away from Iran's nuclear program to the war in the Middle East.
So I say it's Iran who's picking the fight, not Israel. Israel finally said they're not gonna take it anymore (cue the music)

we are being lied to approximately Iran. Iran would not prefer to start a conflict, Israel needs usa to break Iran for them. yet after the extensive rip-off and lies that have been informed approximately Iraq's pretend WMD, the lies that have been perpetrated via Jews interior the media, further and extra human beings are skeptical approximately Jewish claims of Iran. the superb ingredient that Israeli supporters and defenders of Jewish media lies could declare that Iranians need to be mass murdered is that Ahmadinejad "denied the holocaust." yet even this could properly be a lie. Ahmadinejad merely reported that the holocaust isn't allowed to be researched and stated from a medical, tutorial viewpoint. and whether Ahmadinejad quite would not have faith that the holocaust handed off isn't any reason of Iranian voters to be mass murdered.

What makes you think Israel is going to start a war with Iran? They don't even share a common border. Tom clancy couldn't even make that story fly.
